Why Can't I Help?

-Mon El's POV-

"I should be out there helping, not sat here watching peppa pig!" Kara moans from the couch.
"Kara there is a mad man who controls fire out to get you. We have the kids to think about now" I state as I continue to prepare lunch.
"Fine, i guess" Kara groans as she turns back to watch peppa pig with Bryn cuddled in her arms.
"Mommy?" Bryn asks.
"What baby?" Kara says as she looks down at the little girl in her arms.
"Why are you are Daddy not at work?" she asks curiously.
"Well... Mommy and Daddy don't have work today so we have the whole day to spend with you and Isaac" Kara explains happily  as she places a kiss on Bryn's nose.
"Daddy?" Bryn asks as she sits up and looks towards Me.
"Yes princess?" I question.
"Who is out to get Mommy?" she asks curiously.
"It's just a game Bryn, no one is really out to get Mommy" I say, trying to make myself sound believable.
"Is Mommy in trouble?" she asks.
"Nope, Mommy's not in trouble" I tell her before she turns back around to watch Peppa pig.
"Right, lunch time!" I say happily as I walk over to the floor and pick up Isaac off his play mat.
As Kara and Bryn jump up, the TV remote is knocked off Kara's lap and Bryn stands on it, causing it to change to the news channel.
"Breaking news!, The Obsidian Flame is at it again! Downtown Mary road there has been a fire which has caused 3 buildings to collapse. 6 are dead and 10 are in a critical condition!" came a male voice as videos of 3 burnt down buildings are shown in the background.
I run back to the sofa and switch the TV off but when I turn back around, I see Kara's eyes almost beg me to let her go, but today I am not giving in. Yes she might of used them to get a cat which died a week later and to go on holiday which we ended up abandoning to go and save Alex but not today. I will not let her use them against me.
I mouth no to Kara which makes her drop her bottom lip but I ignore it as I strap Isaac into his highchair and help Bryn push in her chair.
"Why?" she whispers as I take a seat next to her.
"Kara I am not letting you go get hurt. Let the DEO handle it" I reply sternly as I tuck into one of my sandwiches.
"I will be there and back in like 2 minutes. They will not even know I was there" Kara begs but I still refuse.
"Nope sorry, you are under my care now and I will not let you get hurt. Not If I have the chance to prevent it" I reply as she huffs and continues to eat her sandwich.

__________ After Lunch __________

"I'm bored!" Kara moans as she slumps on to the couch once again.
"Kara you finished lunch 15 seconds ago. How can you be bored already?" I ask.
"I have nothing to do in the apartment Mon el. I want to do something exciting!" Kara explains.
"How about we play a board game?" I ask.
"Boring" she replies.
"How about we get the crayons out and we can all draw some pictures?" I suggest again.
"Boring" Kara yells angrily.
"Umm... How about we play on the Wii?" I ask.
"Boring... Wait... We don't have a Wii Mon el..." Kara replies as she sits up.
"I know but we could get one. Please!?" I beg.
"I don't know" Kara replies.
"Kara come on. You said you were bored and it would be the best thing to do when your bored and we can play as a family. Come on Kara" I beg as I get on my knees.
Bryn laughs and joins in, thinking it's a game.
"Please Mommy!" she begs and giggles along. .
"Fine... I give up, you can get a Wii" Kara laughs.
I shuffle over to her and place a quick kiss on her lips.
"Thanks babe".
"Can I drive down to the store and buy one?" Kara asks sneakily.
"Yes... Wait no Kara because you will say there was traffic but actually you went to help someone so no. You are not going. I will go and take Bryn will me. You can stay here with Isaac" I tell Kara as I jump up onto my feet and pull on my trainers.
"Fine" Kara says as she slumps on the sofa again.
