-Kara's POV-

"Look, look, look at me, Mommy!" Bryn yells as she runs into our bedroom, dressed in her new birthday red lace dress.
"You look beautiful baby girl" I smile as I put Issac in his cot and I pick Bryn up in my arms.
"Do you want to see your new shoes?" I ask.
"Yes," she smiles as I put her down and I walk towards my wardrobe.
I grab a small silver shoebox from the top shelf, and I hand it over to Bryn.
"Open it" I smile as I sit her on the bed next to me.
She slowly opens the box and pulls out all the pink tissue paper to find a pair of tiny gold pumps with a little gold bow on the tip of each.
Bryn's mouth drops as I take the box, taking the shoes out and handing them to her.
"Do you want Mommy to put them on you?" I ask.
"Yes please," she smiles as I place her on my lap, slipping each foot individually into their own shoe.
"All done" I smile happily. "How about you go and find Daddy and show him your new shoes, go on".
Bryn slips off my lap and runs out of the room and into the kitchen where Mon-el is cooking party snacks.

I stand up from the bed and I walk over to Isaac's cot where he is laying happily, playing with his blue Teddy bear.
"Come on my little dude, let's get you dressed" I smile as I pick him up and I walk over to his chest of clothes at the side of the room.
After looking through quite a few different outfits, I decide on a light blue checkered shirt and some light grey shorts.
I quickly get him changed with 10 minutes spare to get myself changed.
I had been so busy today trying to make sure everything is perfect that I forgot about myself and what I was going to wear.
I quickly decide on an over the shoulder nude dress with some white pumps that look similar to Bryn's but without the little bows.
I leave my hair down but decide to curl it and just as the doorbell goes, I finish the last curl.

"Is everything ready?" I ask as I run into the living room where Isaac is in his bouncer, watching paw patrol with Bryn who is sitting on the couch.
"Yes, everything is ready" Mon el replies from behind me at the dining table.
I turn around to find it neatly decorated with all sorts of different foods.
"Wow Mon-el, you did a great job" I smile happily as he wraps his arms around my waist.
"I did didn't I" he smiles.
"Yes you did and I would love to kiss you but we have someone impatiently waiting behind the door for us because we have taken forever to answer it so can you please get it?" I ask as I unwrap his arms from my waist.
"Yes, fine" he moans as he walks towards the door.
I walk over the couch, leaning over the back of it, with my hands on either side of Bryn.
"It's time to switch the TV off now okay because the party will be starting soon" I explain as pick up the remote, switching the TV off before placing the remotes on the coffee table.
Bryn slouches down on the sofa with her arms crossed as she starts to throw a tantrum.
"Bryn, we don't have time for a temper tantrum today okay so why don't you go see who is at the door with Daddy okay?" I ask as I tidy Isaac's last few remaining toys away off the floor and into his blue toy chest.
"Okay," she replies as she speeds off towards the door.
I unbuckle Isaac from his bouncer and as I turn around I am greeted by a very familiar face.
"J'onn!" I smile as I walk into his embrace.
"It has been a while, Kara, how was your trip," he asks as he let's go of me and Isaac.
"It was great, we all had a great time spending some one on one time with Alex and Eliza" I reply as I watch Isaac mumble random sounds.
"Alex showed me some of the photos when she got back it was all she would talk about until about 2 days ago so it bet it was great" he laughs.
Then the doorbell rings again.
I hand Isaac to Mon el before taking Bryn's hand and leading her towards the front door.
I open the door with my free hand to find Alex and Winn standing there with huge grins on their faces.
"Happy Birthday!" They yell as Alex hands Winn the gift that she was holding and picks up Bryn who smiles brightly along with them.
"How old are you now? Do you know?" Winn asks.
"Bryn, show Uncle Winn how big you are with your fingers," I ask her and she lifts three fingers up towards him proudly.
"Oh my gosh, that is very big" Alex laughs as I move out the way and they walk into the apartment.

After about half an hour everyone had arrived. Lena and Sam had luckily made it on time even though they have a big project on the go but Ruby couldn't make it because she was on a 3-day science trip with her school.
Eliza wasn't going to make it to the party but she was going to spend the weekend with us next week and then we could celebrate her birthday with her then.

There weren't any games because Bryn doesn't really have any friends of her own age just yet so we just talked and ate until it was cake time.
We had left the cake with Lena so that Bryn couldn't get a peek before it was time.
Sam helped me light the candles while no one was looking and Mon-el switched off the lights and guided everyone towards the dining table.
I walked over to the kitchen table and placed the cake down in front of Bryn as we all sang happy birthday and her face could not have looked happier. She was grinning happily from one cheek to the other and she kept clenching her fists and then loosening them again which she does every time she is excited.
Seeing her this happy brought tears to my eyes but I didn't want her to see me cry so the minute the lights were switched back on, I slipped into our bedroom where no one could see me.
I am happy, happier than I have ever been before but I can't stop the tears from flowing from my eyes.
All I can think about is my Mom.
She would have loved to be here, to watch Bryn blow out her candles and in a few months watch Isaac have his first birthday cake.
She would have loved to see them grow up.
She would have been the best Grandma to them just like she was the best Mother to me.
She was kind and generous and always put my needs before her own.
I loved her so much and I know that she would have loved them until the end of time.

Mon-el must've noticed my disappearance because as soon as the cake is handed out, he comes to find me.

-Mon el's POV-

"Kara, what's wrong?" I ask as I quickly sit next to her on our bed.
"Nothing" she replies as she rests her head on my chest.
"But Kara, you're crying" I reply, confused.
"I know" she mumbles.
She lifts her head from my chest and looks straight into my eyes.
"I miss my Mom," she says sadly.
"I know Kara, I know you do" I smile slightly as I take her hands in mine. "I bet she is watching you right now".
"Really?" he asks.
"Really Kara, I bet she is so proud of you," I say as she places her head on my shoulder, her face buried into my neck.
I place a gentle kiss in her hair.
"I bet she is amazed. You are Supergirl, You are a reporter for Cat Co and you still have time to be the best Mother that Isaac and Bryn could have ever asked for. I know I am" I smile as I lean my head on top of hers.
"I am?" she asks, disbelieving my statement.
"Yes, you are the best Mother, from the moment you first saw them I could tell that you were going to be the best Mother. You are kind and gentle and you would rather put their needs above your own. You went above and beyond for Bryn's birthday party and I can tell by just looking at her that she feels loved. She is happy, they both are and I could never have done it without you" I smile.
"I bet you could" she suggests.
"Nope, if I tried to be a Father without you, we would be eating ice cream for every meal of the day" I chuckle as she sits up again, facing me.
"Thank you" she smiles up at me.
"For what?" I ask as I play with her fingers.
"For believing in me" she smiles as she wipes the tears away.
"I will always believe in you Kara Danvers" I smile happily.
"I know you will, and I you" she smiles as she stands up in front of me.
"I am going to wash my face and then I will join the party again but you better get out there before they think we've left them" Kara chuckles as she heads towards the bathroom.
"Okay, I love you!" I yell after her.
"I love you too" she yells in reply as I walk out of our bedroom and into the packed living room, trying to find Bryn and Isaac.
