Alex grips the handle of the gun tightly in one hand and rests two fingers over the trigger as she waits for a clear shot of her target. She takes a steady breath in as she notices her target come into focus, giving her a clear shot. She pushes the trigger and the gun releases a bullet spiralling through the air. The bullet flies towards the target but then with only a second to spare, the target moves and the bullet misses and hits the wall behind.
“Come on!” Alex yells in frustration and she throws her arms in the air.
“I am a DE… I mean FBI Agent. I have had years of gun practice. The shooting range is my other home. How could I have missed!” she continues to yell.
“Looks like there is no big blue Teddy bear for you” Winn mocks as he hides behind Kara so that Alex couldn't fight back.
“You don't have to rub it in” Alex sulks as Mon-el drags her away from the stall and towards another.
“Look, look!” Bryn yells as she points a stall with a paddling pool filled with ducks sitting on the table. “Can I try?” she asks.
“Sure, why not” Kara replies as Mon-el grabs the pushchair and she takes Bryn's hand and directs her towards the back of the line.
Patiently they wait in line for their turn. Bryn insists that she gives the lady her money so Kara proudly passed her daughter a pound and then stood to the side as she watched her contently.
“You have 3 attempts to try and catch a matching pair” the owner smiles as she directed Bryn towards the small paddling pool.
It was full to the brim of floating yellow rubber ducks but they each had a different colour and shape on the bottom.
Bryn stared at them closely before grabbing a duck that was passing and not her that was in the centre. She turned them over to find a green triangle and an orange square.
“Try again baby” Kara calls from the side as she watches Bryn stare the ducks with a look of shame. She really wanted a prize.
Gently she threw the ducks back in the pool before grabbing 2 that were floating side by side. She turned them over to find one duck with a purple circle and the other with a blue circle.
“Mommy, I can't do it!” Bryn cries as she throws the ducks back in the pool and runs to Kara, wrapping her arms tightly around her legs.
“Yes you can, you can do it” Kara tries to persuade her as she crouches down and wraps her arms tightly around Bryn who is still sobbing.
“Mommy, can you help me please?” Bryn asks as she lifts her head from Kara's shoulder.
“Of course, I will always help you” Kara smiles as she takes Bryn by the hand and walks her back over to the pool.
“How about you choose a duck and Mommy will choose a duck?” Kara suggests as she kneels next to Bryn.
“Okay,” Bryn says as she runs to the other side of the pool and grabs a duck.
Kara smiles as she grabs one from the centre and then passes it to Bryn.
“What did we get?” Kara asks.
Bryn turns them over to find two blue hexagons.
“Mommy, we won!” Bryn laughs as she jumps up and down with excitement.
“Yes, we did!” Kara smiles in delight as she watches the woman in charge pass Bryn the pink and white unicorn Teddy bear she wanted.
Bryn collects her Teddy and then runs and jumps into Kara's open arms.
"I love you Mommy" Bryn mumbles as she digs her head into Kara's neck and wraps her small arms around her chest.
"I love you too baby girl" Kara smiles as she wraps her arms tightly around Bryn's waist and walks towards the Mon-el and the others.
"Hey... You won! Well done!" Mon-el cheers.
Bryn doesn't reply as her arms loosen from around Kara and they drop by her side.
"What's wrong?" Mon-el asks concerned at his daughters' response.
"She is tired babe" Kara replies as she rests her head on top of Bryn's.
"Okay" Mon-el mouths as he releases the brakes on the empty pushchair and they walk across the long, crowded path towards the face painting tent.
"Where's Isaac?" Kara asks as she looks inside the pushchair.
"Alex and Winn have him, don't worry" Mon-el smiles as he parks the pushchair outside the tent and shows me inside, to a stall where Alex is sitting with Isaac on her lap.Winn notices Mon-el and Kara in the crowd and panics.
"Alex, they are on their way over" Winn whispers as he crouches next to Alex's chair.
"So?" Alex asks as she continues to wait for the woman in charge to appear with her colour of choice.
"You are going to get in so much trouble" Winn points out as he stands back up onto his feet.
"I am not, it's not like it's permanent" Alex replies calmly as she bounces Isaac on her knee."Hey, there you are" Kara smiles as she pushes through the crowd.
"Hey, you..." Winn replies nervously as he tries to put on a fake smile.
"What's up, Winn?" Kara asks worriedly as she notices Winn's nervous tone of voice.
He doesn't have time to reply before Mon-el crouches down next to Alex and yelps.
"What's wrong babe?" Kara asks, scared as she entwines her free hand into his hair.
"Look" Mon-el replies shocked as he points towards Isaac.
It takes Kara a minute but then she too notices the difference.
"Oh Rao, what have you done" Kara yells as Mon-el lifts Isaac quickly off of Alex's lap.
Kara brushes Isaac hair down as she investigates the damage.
"You dyed my babies hair blue!" Kara yells, waking up Bryn in the process.
"Light blue actually" Alex adds proudly, not even fazed by Kara's anger.
"Why did you dye my babies hair light blue?" Kara asks as she sways side to side to try and get Bryn to fall asleep again.
Mon-el picks his hand and runs it through Isaac's hair as an attempt to rub it off but the colour doesn't budge.
Isaac giggles as he flaps his arms around happily but no one else is smiling.
"Winn, you're supposed to be the sensible one" Kara jabs angrily but quietly.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't stop her. She was so determined" Winn whimpers at Kara's anger as he almost hides behind Mon-el."We have run completely out of the colour you wanted but I have a similar one here if you want to have a look," A deep voice says from behind Alex as a tall male enter the tent from the back entrance.
"More customers I see" he smiles.
"No, they're with me," Alex says with a smile as Kara and Mon-el continue to glare at her._________________________
As they all sat down for dinner enjoying their burgers and fries in silence, Kara notices a familiar face in the crowd standing at the end of the food court.
"Does anyone have any rubbish?" Kara asks as she collects the rubbish from others and heads towards the mystery guest who was not standing next to the bins."What are you doing here?" Kara asks as she throws the rubbish into the bin before facing him.
"I need your help" he begs.
"Don't you have a whole team to help you?" Kara asks.
"Yes, but we can't fight him. This guy has superpowers like yours and we need someone of equal strength to fight against him like you" the guy pleads.
"But I have a family and a city to protect. I can't just go to your earth and leave them" Kara replies.
"Kara, please! I'm sure Mon-el can look after the kids and you have the DEO to protect the city. They will not be completely defenceless, but we are".
"Fine, I will go" Kara smiles. "See you in Central City Barry".
