Shattered

Mon-el watches the television without taking it in as Kara sleeps at his side and Bryn sits on his lap, watching the TV enthusiastically.
A rustle comes from one of the rooms near the kitchen and not a second later, Alex walks in with her hair all over the place and dressed in her fluffy dog pyjamas.
"Morning" Alex mumbles as she shuffles slowly towards the couch and takes a seat next to Kara.
"Morning" Mon el grumbles back.
"How did you sleep?" Alex asks as Bryn hops on to her lap.
"Great!" Mon-el replies sarcastically as he gives Alex a fake smile.
"The kids up all night?" she asks.
"Yes, but it was mostly this one" Mon el says as he points a finger at Bryn who isn't listening to their conversation.
"Why don't you go back up to bed with Kara and I will sort out the kids?" Alex asks.
"No it's fine, I can do it" Mon el tries to reply confidently but fails badly as he yawns.
"Mon el just go to bed, it's an order," Alex says as she laughs.
"Will you wake us up at 8 so we can be ready for their swimming club?" he asks as he stands up with Kara in his arms.
"I can take them" she replies happily.
"Really? He asks.
"Of course Mon-el, just get some sleep!" Alex yells as Mon-el and Kara disappear upstairs and into their bedroom.

-Mon el's POV-

I pull the covers away before laying Kara down on the clean mattress and then pulling the covers back over her.
I walk to the other side of the bed before slipping in next to Kara and pulling her close as she places her head on my chest.
I close my eyes and I enjoy the quiet.
Even before we adopted the kids, there never was a quiet moment so it's nice to enjoy them.
But I don't get to enjoy it for too long because the minute my head hits the pillow, I fall fast asleep.
