Kristina woke up in a hospital bed with her mother standing beside her. "Mom, what happened?" She asked. Alexis grabbed her hand. "I was hoping you could tell me," Her mother replied. "But I already know, so there's no need to lie to me."
Kristina shook her head. "No. I don't understand. I was just with Parker last night-" She started to say before she noticed a confused look on her mother's face. "What?" She said. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Alexis patted her daughter's hand and stood up to leave. "The doctor said you might be a little disoriented. We can talk about this later okay?"  Kristina grabbed hold of her mother's hand and held tight.
"No, I wanna know now. What the hell is going on?" She stated as Alexis moved back towards the bed.
"You've been in a coma, Kristina." Alexis told her. Kristina shook her head. "What? No I-" She looked at her arms. Why did this look so familiar? What was going on? And then she remembered.

Kristina woke up, for real this time, with a raging headache and a heartbeat so loud it was sure to wake the woman sleeping beside her.
"Fuck," She said under her breath, before getting out of bed slowly as not to wake her, then creeping into the bathroom.
She turned on the water and washed her face before choosing to wait a little bit longer before she went back to bed. She decided to just sit in the floor for a little bit, but before long she heard a knocking at the door.
"Kristina?" She heard, and then Parker opened the door. "Are you alright?" Kristina nodded. "Yeah, just feeling sick is all." She lied. Parker came and sat down next to her. "Are you sure that's all of it?" Parker asked, letting Kristina lay her head in her lap.
"No", She replied truthfully. "I had a bad dream." Parker ran her fingers through the girl's hair. "Want to talk about it?" She asked? Kristina rolled over and looked up at her. "Not really, but I guess I probably should."
"Is it about who Carly mentioned earlier?" Parker asked, looking down at the girl in her lap. Kristina nodded. "Well yes, and no. He wasn't exactly in it- it's pretty confusing now that I'm saying it out loud."  She said and she rubbed her eyes.
"Okay so around seven years or so ago, I was in a relationship with this guy named Kiefer. He was rebellious, got into trouble, bad boy, yada yada. Anyways we were together for about a year and then he ended up being a complete jealous asshole and he was really abusive. I kept covering for him, over and over until the last time when he had put me in a coma." She explained and by this point had decided to roll back over. "My mom found me unconscious and was driving me to the hospital when she accidentally hit him with the car, causing injuries that he ended up dying from."
Parker looked like she was about to start crying. "Well shit. I see what Carly was talking about earlier." She said. Kristina snuggled in deeper to Parker's lap. "Yeah. I'm glad I have you now." Parker leaned down and kissed the top of her head. "I won't be going anywhere, either." She stated.
They sat there in silence to the point where Parker was hearing little breathing patterns that suggested that the smaller girl had fallen back asleep. She decided that Kristina had missed enough sleep. Why bother moving and waking her up now?

Kristina woke up AGAIN, but this time alone in the bed. Parker must have carried her to it at some point. She was always good at doing stuff like that. She followed the smell of coffee and food into the kitchen.
"Good morning sweetie." She was greeted along with a plate and a mug. "Feeling any better?" Parker asked. Kristina nodded. "Much better, thank you." She replied taking a bite of food. "I hope I didn't keep you up too late," She said.  Parker leaned over the counter and stole a bite of the toast Kristina had in her hand. "Of course not. I'm here for you anytime you need me to be, even if you think you don't."
"And this is why I'm gonna marry you." Kristina said through a giant smile. "I should hope so Mob Princess." Parker said with a laugh. This life was something else, and there was nowhere but up now.  "Whatever Professor Peabody." Kristina joked back. Parker did a fake gasp of shock. "Oh my god, I just can't even handle you this morning." She told her, still laughing.
Kristina looked at her phone and saw a reminder on the screen. "Crap," She looked over at Parker. "Hey, so I forgot to mention we have lunch with Sam and Jason today." Kristina told her. Parker shrugged. "That's fine with me. We should probably head home first though. Ya know, put on some clean clothes."
Kristina whined briefly but agreed. "Let's go then. If I don't get out of bed now, I never will." She said and Parker helped her up. "After you Princess," Parker told her and gestured toward the door.
