They found this little club down the street and went inside. It was dark but with the usually flashing lights and loud music. Kristina was already pulling Parker to a table.
"Babe!" She yelled over the loud music. "Are we having more drinks or nah?" She asked, planting herself in one of the chairs at the table.
"I wouldn't deny you one of life's guilty pleasures," Parker replied, leaning down to kiss the other girl before heading to the bar to get their drinks. "What do you want?" Kristina thought for a second.
"What about tequila shots?" She replied with a smile. Parker gave her some finger guns and clicked her tongue, causing them both to bust out laughing.
"Alright, alright. I'll be right back," Parker told her, walking away from the table. Kristina felt her phone vibrate and she looked down to find a text from Carly.
Carly: Where did you guys run off to? Are you in your room already?Kristina knew she should reply, but she knew Carly was going to be mad if they bailed on their celebration.
Kristina: We went down the street for a bit. I had to get some air.
She hoped that would suffice and that Carly would drop it so she could have a good time. She should have thought better.Carly: OMG Did I run you off??? I'm really sorry Kristina, I honestly thought she knew.
Kristina stared at her screen a little longer. She really should have told Parker about Kiefer, but "Hey, I had an abusive boyfriend that almost killed me once, but now he's dead instead, so it's cool" doesn't exactly find it's way into most conversations. She opened the text to reply.Kristina: It's fine Carly. I'll tell her eventually, I just hadn't really needed to. It's not something that just comes up. We aren't talking about it tonight though cause we're celebrating. Ill ttyl 😘
She powered off her phone and put it in her pocket. When she looked up, she saw Parker standing there with their drinks.
"Are you okay honey?" She asked, before placing the drinks on the table. Kristina grabbed the first one and downed it.
"I'm soooo great," She said sarcastically, placing the small glass down and wiping her mouth. "I'd be even better if Carly quit texting every five seconds." Parker sat down next to her. "I turned my phone off though, so she won't have much choice."
"Are you sure you're alright Kristina?" Parker asked, genuinely becoming concerned with the fact that the woman she loved had suddenly went from her usual self to tossing back a second shot...and a third.
After that third one, Kristina was starting to feel it. "You ready to dance love?" She asked the other girl, who had now decided to take a shot of her own.
"As long as you promise you're alright." Parker replied and Kristina nodded her head and reached for her hand.
"I'm fine baby," She said in a slightly intoxicated tone. "Let's go have some fun!" She told her, and dragged her off to the dance floor. "This is my jam!"
Parker watched as her girlfriend/fiancée flung herself around the dance floor to Selfie by The Chainsmokers. She personally couldn't stand this song, but Kristina obviously could and she was just as adorable drunk as she was sober. This girl could make her like anything.
"Come on baaaaabe!" Kristina told her, pulling on her hands and jumping up and down. "Dance with me!"
More than willing, the other girl joined in. Anything to keep Kristina from being upset tonight. She wasn't sure what the texts had said, but they clearly had bothered her. Leave it to Carly to lovingly but unintentionally start drama and the proposal night. They danced a little longer before going back to the table and sitting down for one more round.
"Are you almost ready to go?" A completely worn out Kristina asked, finishing her last shot. Parker stood up from the table and helped her future bride to her feet. "I'm ready when you are love."
They decided it was time to go back to the hotel room. Kristina had had more than her fair share to drink and was stumbling, so in order to prevent her from getting a charge for public intoxication, Parker had her climb up on her back.
"Come on, up we go." She told her as she kneeled to the ground. Kristina climbed up and wrapped her legs and arms around the taller girl.
"This is way better than Uber, just throwing that out there." Kristina said with a smile. "I'm sure it is," Parker replied. "You get a much better view from way up there than what you are used to I bet." Kristina snickered.
"Yeah? Well we can't all be six feet tall and drop dead gorgeous and smart and-" Kristina went on and on in her drunken stupor. Parker rolled her eyes. "I think you've just had too much to drink honey. Besides, contrary to what you might think, I find you to be quite the catch myself." She told the girl on her back as they walked into the lobby.
"Yeah, if you say so." Kristina said, playfully kissing her lover's cheek. "I love you, ya know." She told her, squeezing around her a little tighter. Parker gently squeezed the smaller girl's arms and smiled. "I know you do. I love you too."
They no sooner had made it to the elevator (Parker was strong, but she wasn't even going to attempt to piggy back Kristina up three flights of stairs) than they ran into Carly once more. She had been doing room checks apparently. She looked at the two of them and smirked.
"I see you two had fun!" She told them, looking at a tired Kristina, who was now resting her head on Parker's shoulder, still on her back. "Are you alright baby?" She asked. Kristina lifted her head and looked at her step mother.
"I'm fine, just sleepy. Parker and I went dancing!" She said and her eyes lit up briefly before losing their excitement again. "Sorry I turned off my phone." She said.
"It's fine," Carly told her. " I understand. All I care about is that you had a good night tonight." Kristina smiled at her. "I did, and it has been the best day ever! Well, most of it, but still." Kristina's eyes went soft for a moment, as if she was lost in thought but then came back down to earth. She looked at Parker.
"Can we go to bed now? I'm really tired." She said to Parker, who rubbed the sleepy girl's arm. "Yeah, let's go. Thanks again for all of this Carly, I really appreciate the help." Parker told the owner of the building. Carly gave her a smile.
"It's really not a big deal, I was happy to help." She replied as she stepped aside for them to get in the elevator. "Get some sleep honey," She told Kristina and walked away to leave them to go back to their room.
By the time Parker had gotten them to their room, Kristina was fast asleep. She laid her down gently and got into bed next to her before covering them both up with the blanket and turning off the light. This wasn't exactly how she had planned on spending this particular night, but she had definitely had worse. Kristina rolled over and curled into her and she wrapped her arms around the sleeping girl. She had no idea what had been bothering the girl earlier, but she knew something was. Kristina didn't drink like that. Not anymore. Regardless she loved her and as promised earlier that day, she would have a lifetime to prove it to her.
