After six years..

Althea's POV

Napabuga ako ng hangin at wala sa sariling bumangon. My phone kept on ringing kaya agad ko nang sinagot. "You know I hate waiting!" Mary whined on the other line. Napangiti na lang ako at napailing.

"I'm sorry, okay? Ang aga-aga pa kaya!" asik ko sa kaniya pero patuloy lang siya sa pagreklamo sa kabilang linya. I got used of her nagging so it's not new to me.

Six years ago, after I came back to this world, I met Mary. Suprisingly, she's changed. She's not a bully anymore and the truth is, she asked for my forgiveness. She realized all the things she's done to me.

At first I thought she wasn't sincere, but she proved me wrong. Sinubukan niyang makipagkaibigan sa akin and I saw how eager she is to get close to me. So, I let her. And up until now, natatagalan ko ang ugali niya at ganoon din siya sa akin. She's not bad after all.

She knows everything about me. Even my power and what happened to me on Alexandria Academy. She's with me throughout those years that I'm healing. She never left and she's my bestfriend now. Sino nga ba'ng mag-aakalang magiging magkaibigan kami? The world is a mystery, indeed.

"I'm waiting here on the coffee shop so run your ass here right now 'cause I hate waiting. At dahil late ka, it's your treat!" sabi niya na sinang-ayunan ko na lang pagkatapos ay pinatay ko na ang tawag.

Right now, I'm working in a company as a secretary. It's hard to cope up for a long time, but I managed. I have to do it for myself.

And if you're going to ask me what happened to me within those years? I tried to move on. I got drunk, I tried to make friends, I tried to meet some people, but I always end up to where I was and who I really love. How come after so many years, bumabalik pa rin ako sa kaniya?

After I took a bath, I wore a black pants, a white shirt and a denim jacket on the top with a pair of rubber shoes. It's our day off at lagi kaming nagkikita ni Mary. We tried a lot of restaurants and coffee shop now. Kapag holiday naman, out of town kami. It was all memorable.

Kinuha ko ang cellphone ko at tiningnan ang reminder na nakalagay sa notification. It's the day of the year. Today is Alexandria Academy's Enchanted Ball. Taon-taon, nakatatanggap ako ng invitation pero hindi ako pumupunta. I don't know if I'm ready enough to face them. To face him.

Kinuha ko ang mga mail sa front door at hindi nga ako nagkamali, there's an invitation again. The maroon envelope has an embossed letters at the back and an invitation inside saying:

You are invited to Alexandria Academy's Enchanted Ball. Wear your most elegant dress and join us!

Napabuntong-hininga ako at isiniksik 'yon sa bag ko pagkatapos ay pinuntahan na si Mary. Nang maabutan ko siya ay nakasimangot na siya at handa na akong sungitan dahil sa paghihintay niya sa akin.

Nang makapag-order na kami ay tinitigan ako ni Mary at alam na niya agad kung bakit tahimik ako. "You received an invitation again, right?" Tumango naman ako bilang sagot. She knows me too well at wala na akong itinatago sa kaniya. That's why she knows what happened years ago.
