My list consisted of the usual things. I smiled to myself, knowing that Louis room wouldn’t be a complete mess this time thanks to me staying in there. I walked up the steps, past Liam’s room. I was putting off seeing him at all costs. I walked into Louis room, not worrying about walking.
He was sitting on his bed, watching TV. He looked up and smiled. He was probably the only one who hadn’t given me a hard time about going back to work, but I suspected that had more to do with the fact that he wanted me out of his room.
“I need your sheets.” I said bluntly. He got up and started tugging at them.
“I don’t understand why you have to wash them every day…” He shrugged.
“Because boys are nasty.”
“Hey!” He seemed genuinely hurt. I wasn’t cutting him any slack though.
“Especially you! Good lord!”
“Says the person who still needs a place to stay!” He winked.
“I’m going back home.” I shook my head.
“What?”
“My home? Where I should have been staying all along?”
“Sarah…”
“I can’t stay here!”
“Why not?”
“Because! My mom is probably worried sick!”
“Pretty sure that has more to do with the baby.”
I spun around to stare at him in the face. I waited for a sign in his expression to let me know he was joking, or even that he wasn’t supposed to let that slip, as if he was the only one that knew.
“Excuse me?”
“You seriously thought we weren’t gunna let your mom know what had happened?”
It’s like I didn’t have control over my body. A tear that I hadn’t even known was forming slid down my cheek. My knees buckled, but Louis was there to catch me. He patted my hair down just as Niall walked through the door.
“Louis! Do you know where_” He stopped mid-sentence when he saw us. “She found out?”
I started crying harder. Niall came over and put his arms around my backside, so that I was completely shielded by the two boys. Their steady breathing was making it easy for me to calm down.
“Sarah… It’s just a baby… Ms. Payne got her into rehab for the drinking. She’s going to be fine!” Niall cooed.
“But_” Then it hit me.
They didn’t know about the abuse. Of course they didn’t. It wouldn’t make sense for them to know. They just knew about the baby. But I wonder how they knew? Did mom tell them, or was she showing already? That’s awful fast though to be showing.
“And to make it better, we didn’t tell Liam.” Louis added.
“Tell Liam what?”
We all moved away from each other in a quick motion to see Liam and Danielle standing in the doorway. I attempted to remove my face from any tears, but there was no way to hide the puffy eyes and red face.
“I thought you were in your room mate?” Louis asked, avoid the question. Liam wouldn’t have it.
“What are you all not telling me?” Liam growled.
“Liam, it’s obviously between them, so let’s go_” Liam cut her off, practically hopping over to me.
He grabbed my arms and pulled me into him.
