“Do you mind explaining to me what the fuck you’re doing?”

“I’m taking care of her. Tending to her feelings as you would say.”

“That’s what I’ve been trying to do! You coming in a doing it too is just going to make it harder!”

“Can you explain this one thing to me? Why do you think you automatically have a claim on her?”

My mouth dropped open. I shouldn’t be listening. This was wrong, but my ears were glued to the door.

“I don’t automatically have a claim on her! Why do you think I’m trying so hard?”

“Give up Liam! If you don’t love her, don’t lead her on!”

“Who said I didn’t love her? She’s my best friend!”

“You know what I mean!”

“I have a girlfriend! One that I’m losing because I’m trying so hard for Sarah!”

“Exactly! So do us all a favor and stop trying! You can keep your girlfriend and Sarah won’t get hurt!”

“Why do you care?” Liam questioned as if he knew.

I stood up and scampered down the stairs. I didn’t want to hear the answer. As I reached the bottom of the stairs, the doorbell rang. I quickly opened it without hesitation. Danielle stood there with a smile on her face. As her eyes landed on mine, a frown dropped.

“Hi.” My voice came out as a whisper.

“Hi Sarah.” She looked sorry.

“Liam is upstairs with Louis so_”

“Do you mind if I talk to you?”

What was I supposed to say to that? No, you can’t talk to me because you caused all this stupid drama? I couldn’t say that, because technically, I started the drama because I worked here in the first place.

We walked into the living room and sat down on the couches. I didn’t say a word. I sat there, not looking at her, and not moving for a good five minutes before she broke the silence.

“So you’re the infamous Sarah.” She sighed.

“Yeah.” I smiled politely. Why was she acting like she hadn’t met me before?

“Can you tell me some things about Liam’s childhood? He would never spill!” She laughed.

“Um, he was actually pretty much like he is now. With the exception of being famous.” I smiled, not wanting to give away any precious information.

“Really? No wonder you like him so much. He’s amazing.” She smiled, without taking her eyes off me.

“So, um_”

“Why do you two fight all the time now?”

“What?”

“It’s just, I know, he left you, but he’s trying really hard.”

“What are you talking about?”

“You two fight constant over nothing! Then he comes to me, heartbroken. It just doesn’t make sense!”

“How is that my fault?” Who does she think she is?

“I just think you two should work out your differences.”

Right then, I just wanted to yell in her face that if we worked out of differences, we would be dating.

“I’m not going to be the only one making the effort. But we’re trying.”
