I was walking down the stairs, replaying everything in my mind. Louis and I were on good terms. As for Liam and I? I guess that’s supposed to work out in time. I plopped down on the now empty couch where Niall used to sit.
My mother was still alive. My real mother was out there, living her life. The wheels had been turning as soon as Louis filled me in about her. Almost instantly, I knew what I was going to do.
I looked down at my phone, and scrolled through the contacts till I reached who I was looking for. My finger hovered over the call button. We weren’t really friends. She talked me once, and I shouldn’t really be burdening her with my problems, but it was one car trip to the jail. I sure as hell couldn’t ask one of the boys. They would kick my ass for even asking. I took a chance, knowing it was my only option unless I wanted to walk.
“Hello?”
“Chantelle?”
“Sarah?”
“Yeah! Hey!” I replied cheerfully.
“Hi. What’s up?” She replied just as enthusiastic but I could hear a hint of weariness.
“I know that we just kinda met and haven’t really talked, but I was wondering if I could you could lend a ride? It’s down to the local jail. I understand that it_” She cut me off.
“Sure babe. Where are you at? I’m on break right now, so I can come get you.”
“Um, at Liam’s. His address is 8974 Hunger Street.”
“Okay! Can you be ready in like, the next five minutes? That’s not to far from here.”
“Of course! Thank you by the way!”
“It’s not a problem.”
I smiled as we said goodbye. That went easier than expected. I glanced at the clock as I took off skipping towards the stairs. I hung onto the railing as I climbed them up to Liam’s room first, simply because his room was on my first stop.
I knocked on it without worrying. I took that as a good sign. I stood there, waiting for him to give me a sign that it was okay to come in. Instead, the door was yanked open and he stood there glaring at me.
“What?”
“You’re still mad at me?” I asked in disbelief.
“I’m not mad. I’m frustrated. What do you want?” He spat.
“I’m leaving.” I turned on my heel and headed told Louis’ room before a strong hand held me back.
“What do you mean you’re leaving?”
“I mean, I’m leaving this house. I’ll be back later.” I rolled my eyes.
“Oh really? And where are you going?”
“Nowhere dad.” I hissed.
“I have the right to know! Who the hell is taking you? You walking?” He laughed.
I knew better than to tell him I was going with Chantelle. It was bad enough I was going to see my mom. Let alone going to see her with a girl I barely knew.
“I was just letting you know that I was leaving so you wouldn’t freak out. Obviously, that didn’t matter.”
“It’s not fair to just leave me in the dark.”
“You’ll find out sooner or later. I just need to take care of something okay?” I turned to face him.
Regonition crossed his face before I could make a run for it to Louis’ room.
