Basmahs POV
Mothers, they do whatever possible to tackle whatever comes their way to wake you, earlier than a chicken.
I did my best in tearing myself off my blanket, just like any other weekday my mom is literally shouting at the top of her lungs in an attempt to wake me.Its a cold september breezy morning. I try to embrace it with a smile but the smile didnt even get the chance to appear mother thanks to our English teacher who concluded that the best time to give a test is on a monday morning first period, how wonderful that am not even half prepared. I jumped out of my bed and straight to the bathroom i went. I tried my best in using time by brushing my exhausting long black afro hair after a long a hot shower.
"Basmah! are you up yet!"
"yess maaa! and almost ready"
"you better be"
knowing what she meant i poked my head out of my room to see her almost at the door. By that i reassured her am awake, she glared at me before returning back to the kitchen. My nose working with my mind has already solved a quest. My stomach sings joyfully at the aroma am percieving, I stomped down the stairs right behind my mother, I was wearing my school uniform which was a black plitted skirt and a white long sleeved shirt, the shirt tucked in my skirt which was on my tummy, i was wearing a black stockings and had my scarf in my hand, my hair is afro so i tied it tightly in a chignon. I went straight to the kitchen overtaking my momma swiftly.
"its not baked yet!" my mother warned as she steps into the kitchen
"i can eat it that way" i say while staring at the baking cookies in the oven and drooling, i gotta say this my mother bakes THE BEST cookies ever, she could have had a cookie empire and made tons of money if she wanted.
"is it just me or is that chocolate am smelling?"
oh I forgot i had a sister and she is up and ready just as i am wearing the same school uniform as i. She is my cousin who is only a month older than me. It seems shes been up for a While but wasnt in the house
"where were you miss? It seems you are not just waking, how can you not know that mom is baking?" i asked"i was to saving your but, i got all your trashy stuff ready and its in the car already" she said
"aww.. Thank you sweet potato" i thanked, winking.
Pointing at herself, She replied "You just called me a potato?"
me "i think i did, potato" smiling mischieviously
"Thats it! forget your money" she said with a grimmace.
"you cant do that!!!" I shouted knowing what she meant.
" i just did..."
"Ohk sorry no more potato calling, we cool?!"
"Maybe..... "
" Ohk so when you girls are done i think the cookies should be ready" my mother said while bringing out an orange juice from the fridge.
"Finally!!" We both shouted.
We settled at the dining table and had hot tea and sandwich for breakfast while the cookies are for lunch at school, that is, if they survive till lunch, cause we ate almost half, just now.
We finished our breakfast looking for each others trouble while my mother just glared and laughed at some points. She was listening to morning news, otherwise, we get a piece of her.
I took my black backpack while Arfa my cousin took her pink one we are wearing the same kind of everything. From our all stars shoes to our blazers. We wrapped our black scarfs over our heads and are ready for school!
