Clack. Clack. Clack.
Whoom.
"GET IN THERE!"
"Agh!"
He grunted, wincing sharply as they were shoved, carelessly thrown around like some item unneeded at the moment. Though, he wasn't the only one. There must have been thousands of others, children no older than himself, crying and clinging to those they came with. They all looked around, scared and confused, trying to escape, only to be yelled at and struck with the butts of spears and swords, or slapped and with armored hands and knuckles.
"Ah, your all here! Good!"
There they were. The reason they were all here.
"Your all surely wondering why your here, no? Well, I won't tell you. That way it is infinitely more amusing. But, at the same time, I will. All you need to know is this."
They rose a hand, signaling two men waiting by a twin set of ropes, which they pulled, raising several stone walls, nearly impossible to climb, and the very ground of the Colosseum in which they stood itself, countless slots which held various kinds of weaponry and tools in each.
"Survive."
A blur.
Shouts.
Anger.
Screaming.
Clamoring.
Dust.
Distress.
Blood.
Before his very eyes, all of the children, once again no older than himself, had turned on eachotherm tearing eachother limb-from-limb. Wrestling, biting, punching, kicking, shoving...It was utter chaos.
The boy could force no words from his throat, eyes wide as he lay there on the ground amidst the calamity. He sat there, wondering just what manner of evil must of lay inside them all. That is....until....
"RAAAAAAHHHHH!!!"
No sooner could he process these thoughts than was he rushed, a large boy who had gotten his hands on a spear and shield from the slots heading right for him, bashing him in the skull. More than once. Over and over, in fact, till he felt all his wits leave him. He kept bashing. He began to bleed. His eyes began to haze over. He was losing his grip on his own self.
"AGH! AGH! AH....! Ah.....ah.....ugh...."
Waning.
Drifitng.
Weakly reaching forward, grasping emptily at....something....nothing.....light....?
"Hahahaha....."
Hm?
"I'll always be by your side....."
What was.....?
"Leave it all to me...."
A voice....
"I will never leave you....."
Who's voice....?
"Let me be your light...."
"GUH!"
His eyes snapped right open, realizing now what he had been grasping:A stone; heavy and compact, yet fit perfectly within his hand.
In that moment, he remembered their words. The words of the one who brought them here. The words that were his only option.
'Survive.'
KRACK!
With that, the large boy fell right off, the predator quickly becoming the prey as he climbed right on top of him, shoving all his weight down and bludgeoning him mercilessly, all the light and previous wonderings of the evils around him disappearing in a flurry, blood bathing his pale skin and loose rags of clothes as he unleashed all of his fury and rage, grunts of effort quickly turning into screams and roars, switching from the stone to the spear that now lay loose in the large boy's hands, impaling his corpse and cutting him right open. He could see it all. Every gory detail of his handy work and he dug and pierced. But he knew.....knew so well in that moment.....
that it wouldn't be enough. More blood needed to be spilled. More.
More.
More.
More.
He had lost all sensation, all sense of rationale. All he knew now was the red that caked him from head to toe.
'Kill.....'
"Rrrrr......"
'I must kill.....'
He rushed forward.
"RRRAAAAAHHHHHHH!!"
'I MUST KILL!!!!'
