SLAM!
"GAH!"
With a crash, the god slammed into the wall of her palace, sliding painfully downward, his wings much too damaged to carry him.
"Damn....it..."
"Oh, rocke...." Tutted the reasoner, sauntering over to her fallen adversary, lifting his chin.
"Is that really all? Pitiful....The Rocke I knew had much more fight in him.....But, then again, I knew long ago that you were no longer my Rocke. You may as well be an imposter. Or is it that "love", you keep going on about? You love me too much to do what needs to be done for your sad delusion to come to pass. That is where we differ, Rocke. I love you, and that is /why/, this must be. You have expired, my dear, lost your sense! I will fix that, my love....I will fix it all." She muttered softly, smiling sweetly despite the look of pure defeat and malcontent on her lover's face, stroking his cheek.
"Goodbye, Elo.....We will meet again, when all is finally right."
And with that....
SQSH!
"AGH! UGH! Guh.....ah....."
He felt....tired....more-so than usual.
Everything went dark.....
He.....needed a rest....just for a moment...
"GUH!!!!"
He gasped, sitting up as he found himself once again in the familiar void.
"Again?"
Came a voice, tired and wise, deep and full of rich wisdom.
He sighed.
"Again."
The voice sighed too.
"That marks the millionth time, Rocke, and that is merely in this set of loops. There have been-"
"Yeah, Over a decillion; you've told me. I've commanded you to create a loop so I can save both the multiverse and Reya over decillion times, and have failed in every set of loops a million or more each, before everything resets and I just ask you again."
"Precisely. I've watched Reya personally impale you more times than I can count. You have fought her and both won and lost, but neither result has ever satisfied you. If you allow Reya to have her way with all the you have created, you fail. If you purge yourself of that which you love most, that which has helped you create it all, you fail. If the world is destroyed, but Reya still dies, you fail. If you die, you fail. No matter what, you fail. You take no half victories, Rocke." Said the voice, leaning against one of the many walls of the nexus.
"Because I can't, Chrono. It's everybody or-" He began, but Chrono merely cut him off.
"or nothing. All variables, or no variables. So now, I ask you this: Has this particular occasion given you any insight?"
"Yeah," Said Rocke, winding his shoulders.
"I've built upon what I learned the last few times. Things go bad when I plead, but they also go bad when I antagonize her, and I know why....." He muttered, standing up.
"Because I'm too busy beating the both of us up. This started, because of our love, and it can be ended because of our love. All I have to do...."
He smiled.
"Is remind Reya how much we love eachother."
Chrono merely stared at Rocke, before smiling himself, chuckling now, then laughing, heartily and mightily.
"Love! HAHAHA! LOVE! Why, that's brilliant, Rocke! Well then...."
Chrono stood with the support of his blade, heading over to Rocke, using it as a cane.
"Then you are ready?"
He nodded.
"I am."
With a smile, Chrono nodded as well, hoisting up the blade.
"Then go."
He said, and with that, he impaled the god, sending him once again into time's fray.
"Hm...." Hummed time's lord, sitting once again with his blade, which ticked away the seconds, the large, beautiful clock that made up it's hilt ticking away dutifully. With another hum, Chrono lifted a bit of nexus from the "ground", which slipped between his fingers like fine soil, bringing a smile to his face.
"Hum....I do hope our lord gets things right this time around......I do believe I am soon to be late for dinner....." He chuckled, leaning back.
"Oh, well. There will always be next time....and the next, and the time, and time again......"
