With time the earth grows green

She was beauty.

She was grace.

She was everything.

.....Quite literally, at that.

Rocke and Reya had been coming up with something new these days....

A new entity.

Or rather, many of them.

They'd set so many things in place, just for a single planet.

It was Reya's gift, one that Rocke cherished with all he was.

A new being had grown from it.

A beautiful one.

She was young and fleet, and when she moved, the earth seemed to move with her.

I couldn't keep my eyes off her.

I'd never gotten too close.

I had much to do.

So much to be done, and with such a rapidly fixed track to do it.

I had my "little sister" to thank for that.

Rocke enforced, she laid the tracks, and I put those tracks in their appropriate windows.

And nowhere in those windows was there time to parlay, even if I wished to.

......Or so I thought.

"Hello."

"....Hello."

"Are you Chrono?"

"I am. Why?"

"I was sent here....to you, I think."

"To me? Why were you sent here to me?"

"I'm...not quite sure. I think this is just....where I'm supposed to be."

"....Very well. Sit down. The nexus adjusts according to how it's interacted with."

"What is it you do here?"

"What I do? Many things."

"Like?"

"I control time."

"And why do you do that?"

"Because everything has it's set track, and I monitor that track to make sure it doesn't de-rail."

"So, then it was already set that I'd be here?"

"...Likely. Though, not by me, I must admit; I did not see this set of events."

"So you decide what is going to happen and when?"

"You're half correct; I decide the when, not the what.....not entirely, anyway."

"Is that why you didn't know I'd be here?"

"....Possibly. I do tend to know these things."

"How?"

"I am time. It is my job to know."

"What about uncertainty?"

....What?

"Hm?"

"Uncertainty."

What kind of question was that?

"What about it?"

"Isn't there a such thing?"

"Well, of course, but-"

"Uncertainty, I hear, it what makes things "interesting," I think the word is. Things would not be nearly as "interesting" if we always knew their outcome, right? Even you have to agree yes, Mr. Chrono?"

I was stuck.

"Mr. Chrono?"

I couldn't stop myself from laughing.

This girl.....

"What's so funny?"

"Nothing, nothing, it's just.....you do have quite the point, young lady. I must say, you've opened my eyes a bit. What else would you like to talk about?"

"Oh! Well I've always wanted to know...."

And like that, things continued.

She came back every day, asking me about my work, sometimes repeating things I'd already told her, likely having forgotten I did so.

I didn't mind, of course.

She was still very young, afterall.

I began to enjoy my job all the more, waiting for her, letting her sit in my lap as I explained my business. Her stories were no less interesting, though I often had to pretend as if I hadn't already seen them, or set them myself.

"Chrono!"

"Oh, you return, young lady! Perfect timing. I have-"

"Chrono."

"...to get back with you. Unick has come today. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to talk while I finish here."

With that, she skipped off, leaving me with what one would consider my boss.

"Yes sir?"

"You've been spending a whole lotta time with Earth lately, Chro."

"Yes, I have. Is that a problem, sir?"

He smiled.

"No, quite the opposite, actually. It's good for her.....and you."

"Sir?"

"She loosens you up a bit. You live more when she's around."

"You are implying, sir?"

"She teaches you about living as much you teach her."

I couldn't help but smile.

"Yes, it seems she does, doesn't she?"

"Keep it up. I see somethin' good brewin' here."

"As you wish."

"Well, that said, I can't stay. Rey's waiting for me. See you."

"Indeed, sir."

Rocke then turned on his heels, leaving as he had came.

I thought quite a bit about his words, and my mind was set.

I wanted to watch her learn.

I wanted to watch her grow.

I wanted to be the one to help her accomplish this.

"Young lady! Come!"

"Oh, are you done, Chrono?"

"I am. Come sit. We have much to discuss."

She regarded me with a glowing smile, pulling herself up and sitting on my lap-her favorite spot-regardless of infinite miles of space around us.

"Good! Now I can tell you about something very nice Uni showed me regarding...."

And, like that, things continued.

I never did grow tired of her.

I still don't.

Afterall, all things need to grow, is just a bit of time.
