"Trick or Treat!"

Halloween....

Seems like just yesterday I was celebratin' it with the people I tried to help save the world.

Scott, Lucy, Yuuki, Nicole, Moira, Luke.......

So many people I lost that day......

And Nan....

Oh Nan......

"Hey, Earth to King!"

"Huh?"

"You zoned out on me, you ass. You dragged me out here in this costume, 'least you can do is listen to me. Besides, it's on you if they zoom ahead to far, y'know. You're supposed to be the chaperone here."

"Right....Sorry, Jeannie. I was just...."

"Thinkin' about your old buddies?"

"....Yeah."

"I figured; you were way too pleasant."

I laughed. 

"Yeah, my bad. Lord knows I'm not in my right mind if you aren't red as a cherry at all times....red." I cooed, giving the hood I'd talked her into wearing a playful tug.

"Oi, don't push it. I already don't wanna be here, remember? No salt in the wound."

"Right, right."

"You good?"

"Hm?"

"Are you still here?"

"Yeah, now, at least."

"Good. I get the past stings, but me, nor those kids are about to lose you to it. You got somethin' here Aegis, and I'll be damned if I lose the only man I've loved in a damn long time to a goddamn flashback."

I couldn't help but grin.

"Awwww...."

"What?"

"You said yah loved me~!"

"What did I say about pushing it?"

"Right, sorry. You're the boss, Jeannie."

"I know."

God, I love this woman.

No matter how far away I drift from reality, she'll always come to haul my sorry immortal ass right back. Afterall, I've got seven kids and counting, and a damn good woman to look after.

I was here. 

I wasn't King the undead.

Not right now.

I wasn't the black reaper or the deadly ripper.

Not since Nan.

I wasn't a hero tonight.

I was just King, a 20 year-old guy showin' a bunch of kids a good time on the best night'o the year.

I wasn't anybody.

And, more importantly, I was sane.

I couldn't hear him, or big black. 

I was good.

I was okay.

At least......
