Do you really have to go?

Alec's POV
As I laid on Magnus's bed completely exhausted, my phone just had to ring. "Alec Lightwood speaking," I mumbled. "We need you back at the Institute," Maryse spoke.
"Mom, I just worked for 15 long hours"
"I understand that, Alec, but we need you to return"
"I just came home to relax"
"By yourself?"
"Yes"
"Alec, we need you please"
"Fine, but don't expect me to stay long. I'm completely exhausted"
"Of course, Alexander. I'll make it up to you by getting two weeks off"
"Two weeks?!"
"Two weeks"
"Thank you, thank you"
"And Alec?"
"Yes, mom?"
"Make sure to use your two weeks off wisely, if you know what I mean"
"MOM!"
"Now hurry"
I sighed after hanging up the phone and quickly got dressed. Since it was dark outside, I hailed a cab to the Institute.

At the Institute

Alec's POV
As I worked on my extra paperwork I had to complete, I almost fell asleep three times. "Alec?" Izzy's voice called out through my door. "Yes?" I asked, yawning.
"It's five in the morning. Are you almost done?"
"Not even close"
Izzy sighed before finally opening the door. "You should go home," Izzy suggested. "Not until the paperwork is complete," I argued.
"You need some sleep. Magnus is probably worried about you"
"But-"
"Go home, Alec. I'll finish your work tomorrow for you"
"Thank you, Izzy"

At home

Magnus's POV
When I returned home at four in the morning, I fell asleep instantly when I flopped onto my bed. I sighed as I turned and twisted in my sleep before waking up with a scream. "I hate nightmares," I mumbled to myself. "You're not the only one," a voice whispered above me, making me smile.
"Alexander, you're home late"
"They needed me at the Institute. But I do get two weeks off"
"Two weeks?! TWO WEEKS?!"
"Mags.."
I chuckled at my uncomfortable boyfriend who just stared at me. "Well, are you coming to bed or not?" I smirked. "You know I'm not as tired as I was earlier," Alec sighed softly before getting in the bed and wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Well, I am! So shut up and let me sleep!"
"Yes, babe"

A few days later

Alec's POV
I sighed in content as Magnus played with my hair. "I wish we could just stay here forever," I whispered. Magnus chuckled and kissed me on the forehead. "But we can't," Magnus sighed.
"I know"
"Let's have some fun, Alexander"
"What are you thinking of?"
"Well...."
