4. "So how was it?" "It was... hell" "Well, that is a way to describe it"

Previously:

"Wait-" I whispered, knocking on the door again.

"Leave, Magnus!" Zach shouted loud enough to echo outside.

I sighed and left. I stopped in my tracks before walking in the portal. Who the hell is Zach?! I wondered.

Now:

Magnus's POV

I sighed as I heard my door, waking me up at a deadly hour. I hoped it was Alexander, but I knew it probably wouldn't be.

"Who is it?!" I shouted.

"Magnus! You're finally back!" A girl screamed. Isabelle.

"Are you alone, Isabelle?" I asked.

"Nope. I'm with Raphael and Cat"

I sighed, using my magic to unlock the door.

"Magnus-" Isabelle started, but I stopped her with a hand up.

"If you're here to scowl me, you should leave because I'm not going to have it," I hissed.

"Nope. Alec doesn't know I'm here. If you need to see him, I want to make a meeting"

"Isabelle, if you don't mind, we'll like to talk to Magnus alone," Cat interrupted.

"Magnus-" Isabelle tried.

"Come back later, we'll talk then," I offered, smiling.

"Okay. Then I will see you later"

Silence. Raphael happened to be the one to break the silence.

"Well? You're back, I thought you would never be able to leave," Raphael snickered. I sighed.

"Oh, I wasn't able to. That's why I was there longer than what on we agreed to," I spoke.

"He really wanted to keep you there forever, didn't he?" Cat asked.

"Yep, as always!" I hissed.

"So how was it?" Raphael asked.

"It was.... hell," I admitted, making Raphael and Cat laugh.

"Well, that is a way to describe it," Raphael grinned.

"You were stupid to make that deal with him," Cat added.

"It's not like I had much of a choice. He threatened to expose me and kill like more than half of the mundanes," I replied, rolling my eyes. Exposing me was no big deal but more than half of mundanes getting killed would be a huge problem.

"So I've heard you been trying to get into the Institute? What's that about, Magnus?" Raphael asked.

"They might need my help," I lied.

"Tell the truth, Magnus"

"Fine. I want to see Alec and try to get him back..."

"I'm guessing you don't know?"

"Know what?"

"You'll find out"

Meanwhile at the Institute...

Alec's POV

"I'm going to see Magnus tomorrow. I've had enough of him trying to come here!" I snapped.

"I don't think that's a good idea," Jace sighed.

"Jace if I don't, he'll keep coming. Is that what you want?"

Silence.

"You're going to have to tell him," Jace added.

"I know. But how can I when I know what it will do to him?" I sighed.

"It doesn't matter. Magnus deserves to know the truth"
