1. A random meeting

Alec's POV

It's been almost 9 years since Magnus broke up with me. I managed to move on, obviously, but I would be lying if I told you I didn't love him.

"Alec, we're going to Taki's for lunch," Peter told me around the corner. I nodded. Ever since Peter came in my life, I was extremely happy and honestly, I never thought I would be this happy again after Magnus. I sighed as Peter and I walked hand in hand to Taki's. What I didn't expect, however, was running into Magnus.

"Do you want to go somewhere else?" Peter asked.

"No, let's stay," I answered.

"Peter!" A girl with blonde hair yelled out of nowhere. I instantly felt jealous, not because of the fact that she knew Peter, but because she was sitting with Magnus. Her yelling got his attention because in a few seconds, his golden eyes were staring at my hazel ones.

"Angela, I haven't seen you since forever!" Peter responded before giving Angela a hug.

"Peter," I spoke.

"Oh, right. Angela, Alec. Alec, Angela"

"Nice to meet you, Alec," Angela said.

"You too," I replied.

"If you don't mind me asking, how do you know Peter?"

"Peter is my boyfriend"

"Huh, so he didn't tell you"

"Angela, shut up!" Peter yelled.

"Peter, what is she talking about?" I asked.

"Nothing"

"Peter"

Angela chuckled.

"He's married, Alec. With kids," Angela responded.

"Is that true, Peter?" I asked, angrily even though I was keeping a secret of my own. No one knows, except Jace because of the Parabatai rune, that I'm immortal.

"Angela," Magnus spoke, making me remember that he was there.

"Oh my god, you're Magnus Bane!" Peter shrieked. Magnus gave him a glare.

"Shut up before I kill you"

"Come on Magnus, he's just too excited," Angela defended. I held in a laugh.

"Whatever. Alec, let's just have lunch like we planned," Peter tried.

"You didn't answer my question. Is it true?" I snapped.

"Yes, it's true! So what?!"

"So what?! You're MARRIED, Peter! And we're dating. You're literally cheating"

"Everyone keeps secrets!"

I wanted to scream "I'm immortal!!", but I didn't because I didn't want to make more of a scene than it was.

"Not like this," I whispered.

"You make me happy, Alec! And I also make you happy, isn't that enough?!" Peter yelled.

"You used to make me happy, Peter. Now I can't even look at you. We're finished"

"You can't break up with me!"

"I just did!"

Peter huffed and walked away.

"Are you okay now?" Angela asked. I just glared at her.

"Sure," I answered, but I knew I wasn't.

"I'm sorry you had to get that from me"

"I'm glad you did"

People were eyeing us. I shook my head before running off.

Magnus's POV

"Go after him, Magnus," Angela suggested. I smiled at my old friend before running after Alexander. There could be many places where he could be, but I knew he was probably in Central Park near the place where we had our first real, public date. Alec was sitting by the creek with his feet in the water.

"Alexander," I whispered softly. Alec turned to face me.

"Why did you follow me?" He asked, calmly.

"Because you're hurting. Because you need comfort. Because you need a friend"

"I'm fine"

I sighed as I slowly sat next to him and pulled him in a hug.

"We both know that's not true," I whispered sadly while Alec cried on my shirt.

"I thought I was happy, Magnus! And yet, he was lying to me this entire time!" Alec screamed.

"Shh, I understand. I know exactly what you're going through"

After some time of Alec crying and screaming, he pulled away from my hug.

"Th-thank you. You don't know how much this means to me," Alec sniffed.

"Come on, you're in no shape to return to the Institute right now. I'll take care of you, my dear Alexander," I whispered. When we reached my bedroom, I carefully helped Alec lay down under the covers. As I turned away, Alec's hand grabbed my wrist making me look at him.

"Don't leave me, Magnus," he whispered. I nodded and laid right next to him. I wrapped my arms around his waist protectively and kissed his forehead before allowing sleep to overcome the both of us.
