1. Living In The Dark

Alec's POV

They say when you make one terrible mistake, you change into a person you don't recognize. That was exactly what happened to me. When I was 15, I witnessed my sister almost getting raped so I had to beat up the guy, not knowing it would kill him at the end. My mother threw me out of the house with millions of money to be able to survive this world. I bought a mansion because I could. I even went as far as selling drugs at one time just to get a little bit more money until I found a good job that gave me a salary of 50 trillion dollars.

"Alec!" Magnus groaned, pulling me back into reality.

"What, Magnus?" I asked, rolling my eyes. Magnus and I weren't enemies but we weren't exactly friends either.

"You're going to finish the essay, aren't you? Or am I doing all the work once again?!"

"Whatever, Magnus. Just make sure I pass. You know what happens if I don't get my way, don't you?"

"Of course," Magnus gulped, making me smile. Not even my friends dared challenge me.

"Now go on. Finish my essay," I ordered.

"Yes, sir"

I sighed as I typed the last section of my report that I was supposed to finish 5 weeks ago.

"You're going out?" Aragon, my main boss, asked. I sighed.

"Yeah. Get someone to finish my work," I demanded before walking out. Even my own boss was scared of me since he always allowed me to do whatever I wanted.

A few hours later...

"Alec?" Izzy whimpered over the phone.

"What, Iz? And how the hell did you get my new number?" I almost shouted.

"Simon gave it to me"

"What?"

"Alec..."

"Look, Simon might be my best friend but I don't want you going anywhere near him"

"But.."

"Izzy!"

Suddenly, the door slammed open.

"Alec, what's your problem?" Simon hissed.

"Izzy, I'll call you later," I spoke before hanging up the phone. Simon stared at me, waiting for an answer. "Nothing. I guess after her almost rape, I just.." I sighed.

"Hey. That happened a few years ago. Alec, I'm not going to hurt your sister, you have my word. We're just friends, okay?" Simon assured me.

"For now"

"I don't even know if your sister even likes me!"

I smiled, giving him a hug. Only my best friend was the one who saw me when I wasn't doing anything dangerous.

"Want to go do something dangerous?" Simon asked. I just stared at him.

"What?" I asked.

"Hey! I know you're hurting so I thought doing something dangerous would help!" Simon yelled, shrugging.

"What did you have in mind?"
