I wrote these kind of stories before in my first and second one-shot books except in this one the immortality rune makes you non-killable, so enjoy

Magnus's POV

Tessa, Catarina, and I were casually walking around New York when we heard at least five explosions.

"What the hell was that?!" Tessa questioned. I said nothing as we all were hurrying to help the injured, even if it was mundanes.
"It's the Institute," Catarina whispered, covering her mouth. Who in the hell would destroy the only safe home for the Nephilim?! Because it was gone, vanished. Anyone who was in the Institute at the time of the explosions definitely didn't survive since it happened so fast.

"There may not be any survivors, but we still have to check it out," I held in a sob.

"There will be, I have a good feeling"

As we checked the perimeter of the once standing Institute, I counted in my head the number of Nephilims dead and I stopped counting after the 15th one.

Alec's POV

It happened so fast, the pain on my side was unbearable indicating that Jace was dead. Clary, Isabelle, and Peter started crying when I told them the news.

"We were supposed to get married in 3 weeks!" Clary cried.

"Don't remind me of your happiness, Clary," I mumbled. It wasn't fair that she was able to get engaged and be happy while I wanted to, but on the same day I was going to propose to the love of my life, I ended up getting heartbroken. As we slowly walked our way back to the Institute, we heard a scream from the alleyway making us run to the cry. A young mundane boy was sat in front of a trash can trying to protect himself from the demon in front of him.

"I have never seen a demon like that," a woman's voice spoke, making us look back.

"Catarina, what are you doing here?" Isabelle questioned.

"To help kill this demon obviously"

"Yeah sure. But afterwards we're going back to the Institute," Clary said.

"There's no Institute," a familiar yet foreign voice spoke.

"What do you mean there's no Institute, Magnus?"

"It was blown up," Tessa sighed.

"Guys, enough talking! We need to destroy this demon and save the poor boys life!" Peter yelled.

"Daddy?" The boy asked, looking straight (gay) at me. I just stood there frozen, that is until the demon charged towards me and before he could hurt me, I was able to kill him.

"Daddy!" The little boy repeated.

"I'm sorry, but I'm not your dad," I spoke sadly.

"Aww, that is so cute!" Isabelle and Clary cheered while Peter was silent.

"Shut up, you two!"

"Baby, maybe you should calm down?" Peter suggested. I gave my boyfriend a glare.

Clary's POV

Tessa was right, there was no Institute. I glanced over at Magnus while he was taking care of the young boy. The young boy was still calling Alec daddy, so he decided to take him in and gave him the name Max. Max Christopher Lightwood.

"You all need a safe place to stay. Magnus has agreed to allow you to stay at his place until you can find another headquarters," Catarina spoke.

Magnus's POV

"By the time we find you a new place, you'll all probably be dead," I sighed.

"Actually, we're all immortal," Isabelle noted.

"What? When? Why? How?"

"I made an immortality rune and we all got it. Except Jace, he didn't get it in time," Clary replied.

"Mhm. And Peter, he didn't want it," Alec added.

"Your boyfriend didn't want to spend entirety with you? That's kinda selfish, isn't it?" I asked, rolling my eyes.

"You say that yet you didn't want to give up your immortality because you're scared of death"

"That's different, I would have died!"

"I WANTED YOU FOR A LIFETIME, MAGNUS!! I WANTED TO KNOW YOUR PAST BUT YOU NEVER TOLD ME ANYTHING! THAT'S THE MAIN REASON WHY I WENT TO YOUR CRAZY EX!!"

"Stop it!" Clary screamed.
