Into The Light

Rainy Day

I woke up earlier than normal this morning. Last night, I had decided that I would join Zack for quiet time before breakfast. I quickly get ready for the day, put my Bible and journal in my backpack and start walking toward the Gazebo. As I approached, I could see Zack looking down at his Bible.

"Mind if I join you?"I ask

He looks up and smiles, "Not at all!" I sit down next to him, he wraps his arms around me and hugs me tightly. "I'm so happy you are joining me this morning,"

"Me too, I thought about it before bed last night, and I decided I wanted to join you in the mornings,"

"I'm glad you did. It shows your desire to want to follow God"

"What are you reading this morning?"

"This devotion talks about what it means to follow Jesus with your whole heart, not just a piece of it,"

I read through the devotion and think back to yesterday afternoon, when I trusted Jesus.

"Is there anything that sticks out to you that you want to talk about?"

"I keep thinking about yesterday, when I decided to follow Jesus with my whole heart, reading this devotion is just extra assurance that I made the right decision,"

"That's awesome Lila! I'm glad you can see that trusting Jesus was the right decision,"

"What about you?" I ask

"I think its a good reminder, that I need to follow God with everything I have, sometimes I struggle to give him my whole heart,"

I jump and move closer to him as I hear a rumble of thunder, lightning flashes across the sky and the wind starts to pick up.

"Scared of storms?"he asks

I nodded, "I'm terrified of them,"

"Don't worry, I'll keep you safe,"

"We should probably get to the dining hall before the rain starts,"

"I need to take my bible back to my cabin, but I'll walk with you to the dining hall first,"

"I don't want you to leave,"

"I won't leave until the storm passes,"

We walk across camp to the dining hall, as soon as we walk inside, the rain starts to pour down.

"There you guys are," Sarah says

"We had quiet time together this morning,"

"I'm glad you guys could spend time together this morning," she says

"Me too, I want to start reading my bible every morning, Zack talks about how it helps him and how its strengthened his relationship with God, and I want that too,"

"I'm proud of you Lila, you've grown so much in the last month,"

"I have Zack to thank for a lot of that,"

"God was already beginning to work in your heart, I just answered your questions,"

"You helped me change my life last night, I went from asking why God loves me, to asking him to save me and experiencing that love,"

"I'm so happy for you Lila," Luke says

"What did you take from the message Luke?"

"It sounds dumb, but I was one of the people who asked Why does God love me. The last month I've really been struggling in my faith,"

"That doesn't sound dumb at all,"

"She's right you know, You don't have to hide something like that from us. We're not going to judge you. Especially when we've all been through it at one point or another," Zack says
