Snow Day

My eyes fluttered open, I slowly got out of bed and looked outside my window to see everything covered in snow.

They decided to cancel school last night, I was excited to have an extra day to sleep in and rest.

"Good morning sweetheart," mom says as I walk downstairs

I yawned, "Good morning,"

"I made coffee if you want some, I'll be leaving for work soon,"

"Just be careful driving, everything is snow-covered,"

"I will sweetheart, do you have any plans for today?"

"I don't know yet, Zack isn't awake yet, and I haven't heard from Sarah or Luke yet either,"

"They're probably asleep too, it's not often that you get a three day weekend,"

"Yeah, that's true. I just hope Sarah isn't mad at me, I said something yesterday and she took it the wrong way,"

"You guys will make-up, you always do, just give her space,"

"Yeah, I'm going to give her some space, I'm sure she won't stay mad long,"

"The longest I've seen you two not talk to each other was a few hours, You're more like sisters than friends,"

"We didn't talk for two days on the fall retreat weekend, we argued and I switched cabins. Zack, Luke and Grace moved into one of the empty cabins with me,"

"I didn't know about that,"

"Yeah, we made up on the last day, but we didn't talk for two days, then we got into an argument on the night of homecoming,"

"I remember that you guys made up by the end of the night and stayed at her house,"

"She was dealing with a lot of stress and emotions she didn't know how to process after she opened up to me, I understood why she had been acting more crazy than usual,"

"I'm glad she talked to you though, you're a great listener and shoulder to cry on,"

"Thanks, mom, I try to be,"

"You got that from your father,"

"That's one thing I'm glad I got from him,"

"You got a lot of your personality from him, especially your creativity,"

"I know, he was always doing something with his hands,"

"You look just like him too,"

"Zack says the same thing,"

"The only thing you got from me was your stubbornness, and strong-willed nature, Zack will have fun with that in the future,"

I laughed, "He's gotten a glimpse of it,"

"The longer you're together, the more he'll see it come out in the little things,"

"We've been together almost 7 months now,"

"I can't believe it's been that long. You remind me of your dad and me when we were younger, we started dating at 15, and got married at 18. I think you and Zack will be the same way,"

"We started dating at 14, he turned 15 on July 2, and I turned 15 a month after we started dating,"

"Have you guys talked about the future at all?"

"Yeah, I told him we have to be dating at least 3 years before we get engaged, on our third anniversary we'll still only be 17. I think we'll be married by the time we're 19. I love him,"

"I can tell, and he loves you, I can see it in how he treats you and how he looks at you,"

"He's the sweetest, I don't think I could have picked a better guy for me,"
