Emmy Grace

Grace had texted me last night and invited me out to lunch with her and baby Emmy after I got out of school today. After the final bell rang, I got my backpack from my locker and walked out through the front entrance of the school.

I saw Grace's car sitting in the parking lot, and I walked over to where she was parked. I got in the passenger side. Once I sat down Grace hugged me tightly

"I missed you,"

"I missed you too,"

"How was school?"

"Good, I'm still keeping A's in all my classes,"

"That's great Lila, I'm so proud of you,"

"It hasn't been easy though, Chemistry is hard,"

"That was my worst subject in high school, I was always bad at math and science,"

"It's my worst too, but I still manage to understand everything somehow,"

"What sounds good for lunch?"

"Anything, I'm hungry, I haven't eaten anything today,"

"Let's go downtown to Webster's Diner,"

"I haven't been there in forever, that sounds good to me,"

It only takes 5 minutes to get to the Diner from school, Grace parked the car, got out of the car, and carefully got Emmy's car seat out. We walked inside the restaurant and sat at one of the tables by the window.

"Do you want to hold her?"

I nod, and Grace gently hands her to me, "She's beautiful Grace,"

"She looks just like her daddy,"

"How much did she weigh?"

"8 pounds, 5 ounces, and she was 21 inches long,"

"She's adorable,"

"I never thought she was going to come, She was over two weeks late, but when I finally went into labor on Valentine's day, she was born quickly, I was only in labor three and a half hours,"

"At least you guys had a good Valentine's day,"

"I'm guessing you and Zack argued?"

"He asked for a break, where we're still together, but we don't go on dates for a couple of weeks or really see each other,"

Grace looked shocked, "I'm so sorry Lila,"

"School this week has been really awkward because he's in all of my classes, so I see him all day long,"

"I can't imagine how weird that must be,"

"Thankfully, I don't sit by him, that would make things worse,"

"I'm glad I've had Sarah and Luke that I could turn to, They both stayed with me on Valentine's Day, Luke brought dinner and ice cream for dessert and we watched movies all night,"

"That's so sweet that they did that,"

"I don't know what I would have done without them, everyone else was happily on a date with the love of their life, meanwhile I was bawling my eyes out because mine is an idiot,"

"How are things with your mom?"

I smiled, "Good, I got to go to the doctor with her the other day and see the babies,"

"I can't believe you're going to be a big sister,"

"Me either, It's crazy because there's going to be 17 years between us, They'll be growing up with my kids more than they will with me,"
