Today Pastor Evan had planned a youth event, everyone was going to gather at the lake, and we'd have a picnic for the Fourth of July, Sarah and I had a sleepover last night, and she hadn't woken up yet. I sat in bed thinking about everything that had happened over the last few weeks, It had been a tough summer, I knew that something had to change.
I decided to text Zack and Luke to see if either of them were awake, I got an immediate response from Luke, but I assumed Zack was still asleep
Luke: What's up Lila?
Lila: Can we meet up for coffee before going to the lake? I'm thinking about a lot this morning, Sarah and Zack are still asleep
Luke: Of course, I'll be there in about 10 minutes to pick you up
I quietly got up and got ready, I didn't want to wake Sarah up. I sent her a message so she would know where I was, and walked downstairs to wait for Luke. When he pulled into the driveway, I walked outside and got into the passenger seat
"Good Morning,"
"Good Morning Luke,"
"How was your night with Sarah? I know you guys had a girls night,"
"It was fun, we went swimming, and had a bonfire in the fire pit,"
"That sounds like fun,"
"It was, I definitely needed a night with my best friend,"
"What were you thinking about this morning?"
"How I've been struggling with my faith,"
"I think that's God trying to get your attention, Your heart has the desire to be close to him again,"
"How can I fix my relationship with God?"
"Well, when was the last time you read the Bible?"
"I don't remember,"
"That's a good place to start, I also suggest praying, talking to God always helps me when I'm struggling,"
"Is there anything else I should do?"
"I would talk to Sarah and Zack about it too, We can all help you,"
"I will, thanks, Luke,"
"You're welcome Lila, can I pray for you now?"
I nod, "Please?"
"God, I ask that you be with Lila and show her the ways to draw close to you again, I pray that you show yourself to her and that she will grow strong in her faith, I pray that she could experience that close connection to you that she desires, in Jesus name, Amen,"
"Amen, thank you, Luke,"
"You're Welcome, Let's go in and get some coffee, I think we both need it,"
"Should we bring some back for Sarah?"
"Good idea, we can get something for Zack too, since we're going to stop by and pick him up after this,"
"Oh, he finally woke up?"
"Yeah, I know he was up pretty late last night,"
"Probably playing video games,"
"Yeah, I got off around 1:00, I know he was awake for a few more hours,"
"I didn't wake you up this morning did I?"
"No, I was already awake, I just hadn't gotten out of bed yet,"
"I didn't really sleep last night,"
"Did you have another nightmare?"
"Yeah, I did,"
