We had just gotten to the church. Today was the day I had waited weeks for, We were leaving for fall weekend, our last one as students, next year, We would be the leaders.
"Hey Lila, can I talk to you for a minute?" Grace asks
"Sure,"
We walked into the church and into Pastor Evan's office where he was also sitting.
"Don't worry, you aren't in trouble, we wanted to talk to you about something, We have seen how much spiritual growth you've experienced over the last few weeks, and since we're short on cabin leaders, we wanted to ask if you would want to lead a cabin of girls this weekend, You'll be in cabin number seven with Cara, Esther, Isabella, Katie, and Emerson," He asks
I nod, "I would love to,"
"Awesome! here are some notes about what Zack will be preaching about over the next three days, just look over them and feel free to add anything in that God speaks to you. If you have any questions, please let me know, I'm only a phone call away," Grace says
"Thank you guys so much,"
"You're welcome, Lila! we can't wait to see how God uses you this weekend,"
I left the office and walked into the gym where they were serving donuts and coffee before we left. Zack was making a cup of coffee which I knew would be for me since nobody else drank hot coffee.
"There you are, is everything okay?" he asks
I nod, "Everything is great,"
"What did Grace want to talk to you about?"
"They asked me if I wanted to lead a cabin of girls this weekend,"
"That's huge, Lila! I am so proud of you,"
"I'm proud of you too, you're leading the whole weekend, This is going to be the fall weekend ever!"
"Yes, it will, next year, will be even better because we'll be leading it together,"
"Do we know the dates of it next year?"
"October 9-12, and get married two weeks later,"
"I know, I can't wait,"
"Me either,"
"Let's go everyone, we're heading out in five minutes," Pastor Evan says
"I'm going to the bathroom before we leave, I'll meet you in the van," He says
"I probably should too,"
I walked to the bathroom which thankfully was empty. A few tears escaped from my eyes, my eyes had been opened to so much over the past few months. My faith had never been stronger. I composed myself a little bit before I left the bathroom and walked out to the van. Zack was sitting in the back waiting for me to join him.
"There you are," Sarah says
"Sorry, I'm here,"
"You okay? you look like you've been crying?" Zack whispers as I sit down beside him
"Just a little overwhelmed, but I'm good," I whispered back
"Why are you two whispering?" Sarah asks
"He's making sure I'm okay, that's all,"
"Is everything good?" Luke asks
"Well, I have good news and bad news... The bad news is I'm not going to be in your cabin anymore Sarah,"
"What why?" she whines
"Well, I'm going to be leading a cabin of girls this weekend,"
"What are you serious? That's amazing Lila," Luke says
