A few weeks had gone by and things between Zack and I have never been better. Tonight is Valentine's Day, and he's taking me out to a special dinner. Tonight would be the night that we became official, again.
"Happy Valentines Day beautiful," Zack says, handing me a bouquet of roses. I smile and gently kiss his lips
"Thank you, I tried to go for cute and comfy, especially since you said I didn't have to dress up,"
"We're just going to Main Street Steakhouse, nothing too fancy,"
"How did you manage to get reservations there? They've been booked for months,"
"I booked it back in October, right before fall weekend,"
"I'm surprised that you didn't end up canceling them when we broke up later that week,"
"Honestly, I was going to give them to Sarah and Luke if we weren't back together,"
"Well, we're technically not together," I teased him
He smiles, "That's going to change,"
"I know, I have a feeling tonight is the night,"
He laughs, "You just can't let me surprise you can you,"
"You mentioned a nice date, I don't think it gets any more perfect than Valentine's day,"
"I guess you're right,"
"And you have to redeem yourself from last year,"
"Yeah, Asking you for a break on Valentine's Day wasn't the smartest move, I was just hurt by everything that happened right before that,"
"I'm glad that we moved past that and we got into a better place in our relationship,"
"Me too, and I think that tonight will really be the start of a stronger relationship between both of us,"
"Are you sure? What if things fall apart again?"
He looks over at me and takes my hand into his, "I promise that this is going to be the best thing that's happened to both of us. The three months we've been broken up have been the worst few months of my life. It made me really sit down and think about things, I thought about literally every fight we had and how I could be better to you, and for you,"
"Zack, you are the best thing that's happened to me, well besides accepting Jesus as my savior, I'm sorry for everything I've put you through the last two and a half years, I know I wasn't the best girlfriend most of the time, but I want to change that,"
He parks the car in one of the parking spaces and takes my hand into his "Can we pray? I feel like it's something that we need to do as a couple,"
I nod, "I was about to suggest the same thing,"
We prayed together, for the first time since I got saved, I prayed in front of him. Once I started crying, he lightly squeezes my hand, reminding me that he is there. Once we said Amen and opened our eyes, Zack wipes my tears away
"Don't cry beautiful, it's going to be okay,"
"I know, sorry, it's been a while since I've prayed, or really felt God's presence,"
He smiles, "Same here, I'm glad we could pray together as a couple,"
"Even though we're not official yet," I teased
"Patience Lila, I have something planned tonight so I can ask you,"
"I'm not surprised, You've always been the romantic one,"
He smiles and looks down, lightly squeezing my hand. "You're still wearing your promise ring?"
"As badly as I wanted to, I couldn't. I never took it off,"
