Surprise Party

"Are you excited about your date with Zack?" Mom asks as she helps me with my hair

"Yeah, I know he wants to take me out and make my birthday special, but it's weird, I haven't heard from Luke or Sarah all day, I was hoping I'd get to spend the day with my best friends,"

"I'm sure they'll text you back at some point,"

"I hope so, I want to be around everyone who means the most to me,"

"Happy Birthday sweetheart," Dad says kissing my forehead

"Thanks, Dad,"

"You look beautiful, Zack is one lucky young man,"

I smiled, "I'm the lucky one,"

I put on the necklace that he had given me for my birthday two years ago, I still wore it every day, only taking it off when I showered or went to sleep,"

"Where did you get that necklace from? I see you wear it all the time," Dad asks

"Zack gave me this for my 15th birthday, I wear it and the promise ring that he got me for our anniversary every day,"

"He loves you," Mom says

I nod, "I love him too, That's why I'm marrying him next year,"

"Woah, slow down, I'm already giving away one daughter next year, I don't know if I can handle two," Dad says

"We've already set a date, Next October, we'll be getting married,"

"What day in October?"

"October 24,"

Mom started tearing up, "He would be so proud of the young woman you've become,"

"Lila, Zack is here," Addy says peaking her head into my room

"We'll see you tonight, have fun," Mom says, kissing my forehead

Zack's POV

I sat in the living room waiting for Lila to come down. I had been in a group message with Luke, Sarah, and Pastor Evan for the last few days, trying to plan everything out perfectly. The plan is, I'm going to take Lila out for lunch and to do whatever she wants. While we're out, Pastor Evan is going to send out a message about there being a 'youth event' at his house which starts at 6, but it's a surprise party for Lila.

When she walks down the stairs, I smile. She looks more beautiful each time I see her. "Are you ready?" I ask

she nods, "I'm ready,"

I stand up and hug her tightly, "Happy Birthday Lila, I hope I can make today the best birthday you've ever had,"

"Hopefully I get to spend the day with Luke and Sarah too,"

"I'm sure Sarah will text you at some point to hang out,"

"I haven't heard from either of them all day, Maybe they forgot about today being my birthday,"

"I don't think they forgot, they're probably just busy,"

"It's just weird that I haven't heard from either of them,"

Once we got into the car, I quickly sent a message to the group chat.

You guys need to text her at some point, she thinks you forgot about her birthday

Luke: What? We'd never forget, I'll text her soon and tell her that Sarah's with me

Good, she's acting kinda sad
