Zola's POV
The last thing I remember was falling to the ground and then it all went blank but then all of the sudden I see a light it was bright like the sun and as I'm walking towards it I see a shadowy figure at first it was really scary but as I got closer I realized who it is and it's my dad and at that moment ran right into his arms
Derek :(picks her up in hug) Zola I've missed you so much
Zola: I missed you too daddy Where Am I?Am I in heaven daddy
Derek :No Zola your not and its not your time
Zola: But then where am I
Derek : You're in a place called the in between
Zola : What is the in between
Derek: It's a place where people who either are in a deep sleep and go to the ones they love who have died and then they wake up or a place where they go to go to heaven
Zola: Like Uncle Mark?
Derek: Yes exactly like Uncle Mark but Zola it's not your time you need to go back to your mom she needs you more than I do.
Zola: But I want to stay here with you
Derek: You can't Zola I know you don't understand now but you will when you get older.
Zola: Can I tell momma that I saw you
Derek: Of course you can
Zola: How would she know that I saw you
Derek: Tell her that her crossing the invisible line was one of the best things she has ever done and even now knowing what we went through it was never a game of chasing her not once I loved her the moment I saw her in the bar you can also tell her. I'm always right beside her and you kids and even Aunt Amelia and no matter where you guys go I always will be You can also tell Alex that he should marry Jo sooner rather then later because you never know what tomorrow will bring and you can tell Aunt April and Uncle Jackson that Samuel is doing just fine oh and one more tell Aunt Callie and Aunt Arizona that Uncle Mark is always watching and so is Aunt Lexie
(saying this with tears in his eyes)
Zola: That's a lot to remember daddy But don't worry I'll remember
Derek: I know you will
Zola: Dad do you wanna know something
Derek: What
Zola: My school had this assignment about what we wanted to be when we grow up, you wanna know what I said
Derek: A pop star?
Zola: No but that would be nice I told them that I want to be a Neurosurgeon just like you daddy.
Derek : Well knowing that you're a lot like me I know you'll be great?
Zola: Thank you daddy...,,,it's my time to go back to mommy isn't it?
Derek:(puts down Zola) Yeah I think it is Remember what I said okay
Zola: Yes I remember daddy, I love you I'll miss you
Derek: I'll miss you too baby and I love you so much
Zola : Bye
Derek : Bye baby
I hug my daddy for the last time and all of a sudden he disappears and I'm left alone again and I don't know where to go but suddenly I hear a heart monitor and I walk towards the sound and I see darkness again and I get scared and close my eyes but when I open them I see the light and sitting next to me is my mom
Meredith POV
It hasn't been that long but it feels like forever I mean it's that what parents say while their child is unconscious. So I'm sitting here holding her hand just waiting for Zola to waking up when all of the sudden her hand moves and I get up from my chair find out that she is finally awake
Meredith: Hey Zozo
Zola: Hey mommy.
Meredith: Hey baby girl how are you
Zola: I'm fine a little tired but I'm okay
Meredith: Good
Zola: Mommy
Meredith: Yes baby
Zola: What time is it?
Meredith: It's five o'clock
Zola: Where is everyone
Meredith: Well when you arrived at the hospital Aunt April got paged so Aunt Jo took Quinn, Bailey, Ellis, and Bethany back to Uncle Owen and Aunt Amelia's house
Zola: Okay
Meredith: Zozo are you sure that your okay you seem a little upset
Zola: I have something to tell you
Meredith: What is it you know you can tell me anything right?
Zola: I...
Right when she was about to something Arizona and Alex walk in
Alex: So how's our little patient
Zola: I'm good
Arizona: Well everything on your charts looks good so I think you can go home tomorrow morning I just want to keep you here over night.
Meredith: Okay, I'm going to let Aunt Amelia know what's going on
Zola: Can you tell them that I said hi
Meredith: Of course. I'll be back.
Alex's POV
After Meredith and Arizona left I noticed that Zola seemed off like she had something on her mind.
Alex: Hey Zozo what's up
Zola: Nothing
Alex: Zola Grey Shepherd
Zola: When I was sleeping I had a dream that I saw daddy
Alex: Oh yeah what did he have to say
What I didn't expect was what she had to say I
mean I'm sure Meredith and Derek told her how they met but I don't think she knew the whole story when she was done I told her to tell her mom I mean knowing Meredith I'm sure she would. She told me she would when she's ready Zola is very smart for her age so I trust her. Not long after Meredith left so I went to do more rounds I had a lot of papers to sign and like Zola said I should really start thinking about proposing to Jo. Which means I had start looking for rings.
Oh god when did I become such a grown up?
