Hailey's POV
Willow Tree Park. I used to come here all the time when I was younger. After the kids turned 8 we stopped coming here. I don't think I've been here since.
"You ready to see them again?" Colby asks.
"No but they hurt my kid. I wanna see him" I say.
"Remember the first time we met? It was right there" he says and points to a spot. I look in the direction and see a tree I would sit under when I came to sing.
Flashback
I sit under a tree and get out my guitar. I start playing Outlaws by David Lambert.
"I took you at your word when you said you steal my heart. Yeah, this might sound absurd, but would you be my thief? Take all of me, every part. Love love love is my crime"
2 guys I recognize as Sam Golbach and Colby Brock each drop a $10 bill in my guitar case. 2 more people behind them do the same. A guy and a girl. The girl has brown hair and blue eyes, the guy has brown hair in a man bun and brown eyes.
"Thanks but I wasn't playing for money" I tell them.
"So? You deserve it" Colby says. Where have I seen them? Oh! Vine! R.I.P.
"I'm not that good" I laugh.
"Yes, you are" the girl says.
"Thanks" I blush.
"Wanna come get breakfast with us? You look like you haven't eaten in days?" Sam asks. Last time I had any food was from a tube in the hospital. That was last week.
"Thanks, but I just ate the orphanage" I lie.
"You live in a orphanage?" man bun asks.
"Yeah"
"I didn't know there's still orphanages. I thought it was all foster care and stuff" he says. My phone starts ringing.
"1 minute" I say. I answer the call from Zane. I have to go.
"Boyfriend?" the girl wiggles her eyebrows.
"No. Best friend"
"Is he cute?"
"I guess....for a dork"
"You blushed! You like him!"
"Did not"
"Did too!" she giggles.
"Maybe I do but he always says his daughter comes over any relationship"
"You have to tell him"
"No. No way"
"What's your name?"
"Hailey?"
"I'm Devyn. Meet me here tomorrow at noon. Tell me what he says"
"I just met you" I say. She asks me for my phone and I give it to her. She adds herself to my contact list and reminds to be here at noon.
Colby's POV
"She was hot" I say.
"Yeah. Sucks she doesn't have a family" Sam says.
"She's really skinny. I wonder how much they actually feed her there"
"Probably not that much" Corey says.
