Roman was excited as he made his way out of his final class of the day. It had been a while since him and Virgil had gone out together on their own. Although the two had seen each other just hours ago for lunch, which was where they informed Patton and Logan of their plans, he found himself missing his boyfriend already.
So, when Roman finally made it out of the school building and saw Virgil the first thing he did was wrap his arms around him tightly to pull him into a long kiss. Once the two of them finally pulled away Roman grinned at the dark blush staining Virgil's cheeks. Pecking his lips one final time Roman let go of the other teens waist, instead taking ahold of his hand. "Are you ready to go?"
Virgil nodded, smiling shyly when their fingers laced together. "Yeah. Are you gonna tell me where we're going now?"
"You'll just have to see when we get there." Roman teased, beginning the walk to their destination. It didn't take long, it wasn't too far from their school, and soon they were arriving at the park.
"I thought it'd be fun to walk around and maybe get some ice cream later. If you'd like to," Roman mentioned with a shrug once Virgil glanced over at him. He felt suddenly worried about the date not being good enough, but all of those worries disappeared at the smile Virgil sent his way.
"Sounds like fun," Virgil gently leaned into Roman as they continued to walk, and Roman sighed in relief. Roman returned his smile, letting go of his hand so he could wrap an arm around his waist instead. "So, where were you planning to take us for ice cream?"
Roman laughed and started to lead Virgil somewhere. "Sometimes you make it seem like you only love me because I buy you food."
"What if that's true?" Virgil's eyebrow quirked, a tiny hint of a grin on his lips. Roman sighed and shook his head.
"I wouldn't be surprised, but I'd still love you." He pecked Virgil's cheek, both of them starting to giggle. Roman cut their laughter off by speaking. "Okay, okay, we're almost there now."
After Roman bought their ice cream the two walked around for a bit, looking for a place to sit. Virgil's face lit up as he saw something, pointing with their linked fingers to an empty swing set. "How about over there?"
Roman agreed, both of them sitting down and very slowly swinging. For a while the only sound was the squeaking of the swings moving and the wind that blew around them, occasionally taking a leaf or two from the colorful trees surrounding the park.
"Summers great and all, and not having school is nice," Virgil began. "But I think fall is the best season."
"I disagree." Roman said, causing Virgil to turn and face him looking shocked.
"What? How could it not be the best? It's clearly the prettiest with the leaves falling, and you get to wear warm sweaters." Virgil defended, and Roman laughed.
"You wear sweaters no matter what season it is. And Summer is pretty too! It has even more colors than fall, and you have more time to yourself to spend doing whatever you want." Roman argued.
"Okay, but... Halloween!" Virgil challenged, and Roman didn't say anything for a moment.
"Okay okay, fine! Halloween beats everything." Roman groaned, and Virgil grinned triumphantly. Roman judged him with his foot, sticking his tongue out childishly. Virgil did the same thing back to him, and the both of them started to laugh again.
"Thanks for bringing me here and buying me ice cream," Virgil smiled at Roman in adoration, and Roman shook his head.
"You don't have to thank me. I'm your boyfriend-I'm supposed to take you out on dates." Roman smiled back, leaning over on his swing to kiss Virgil's cheek. Virgil's smile dropped a little, and he shrugged.
"Yeah, but you're always the one who invites me on dates. I feel like I'm not doing enough." His voice got softer as he spoke, looking down at his ice cream instead of at Roman. Roman frowned, getting up from his swing to stand in front of Virgil. Virgil looked up at him and then all of a sudden a pair of lips were on his. After a moment of confusion Virgil returned it, getting carried away with the kiss.
When Roman pulled away both of had to take a moment to catch their breath, Roman being the first to do so and smiling widely at Virgil. "Virge.. just being able to be here spending time with you is all that matters to me. I don't care if you never plan a single one of our dates together, as long as you still want to come with me on them."
He left another shorter kiss on Virgil's lips, making the teen show a small smile. "I love you. In fact, I don't think I could ever love anyone as much as I love you right now. I'm not going to stop loving you anytime soon."
"Thanks... I love you too." Virgil mumbled, loosening the grip he didn't realize he had on Roman's jacket. He glanced up at Roman again before remembering something, looking to the ground and groaning.
"What is it?" Roman questioned, looking down at Virgil with concern. Virgil looked back up at him with a glare that only confused Roman more.
"You made me drop my ice cream." He explained, still glaring at Roman very seriously. Roman took a moment to gape in confusion, looking to the ground in the spot Virgil had looked. After he saw it he began to laugh, looking up at Virgil who had started to crack a small smile as well. Shaking his head he pulled Virgil into another short kiss.
"I'll buy you another one."
