Roman heard the door close behind Virgil, wincing and pacing faster. His mind was racing with several questions, wondering just where he had gone wrong. How could this have happened? How could Virgil do this to him?
Patton and Logan too! His boyfriend and his two best friends, going behind his back. He was completely in shock. He would have never expected something like this from any of them. They had always been such great friends-they had his back when things were bad, and he had theirs. They all cared about each other-at least he thought they did.
Clearly that could not be the case. If they truly cared anything about him, why would they go behind his back like they did? Surely they didn't care for him at all, or maybe they would have realized just how badly they were going to hurt Roman. There was no way the three of them could still do something like that and actually give a shit about how he felt.
There was no proof at all that Patton and Logan every truly cared about Roman at all, but Virgil? The mark still on Roman's wrist proved that he had loved him! So how, how could this have happened? How could he betray him like this?
Roman stopped his pacing, eyes landing on the bear that was still sitting on the floor of his living room. He glared at it a moment, cursing the painful reminder of something nice he had done for someone who clearly didn't care for him at all. He had been so worried about him, had wanted to know what had been bothering him so much. Now he knew.
Anger taking over Roman grabbed the bear, throwing it across the room as hard as he could. He winced when a loud crashing sound followed from the bear knocking something off of a table. He stared at it for a moment, hands coming up to grip his head as he sank down to his knees. His anger had dissipated after being shocked from the crash, and was immediately replaced with sadness and doubt.
Something had to have caused Virgil to stop caring for him. To stop loving him. Roman's best guess as to why was that it had to be him. As tears spilled over and Roman curled in on himself he tried to figure out just what he had done to cause something like this to happen to him.
Had he not been loving enough? Roman had thought that he had shown Virgil that he cared plenty of times. He always initiated dates and tried his hardest to make Virgil happy. He was there when he needed him to be, whether it was by talking with him and listening or cheering him up with a distraction when he didn't want to talk. He made sure to tell him he loved him at every chance he got, and yet this is still where he ended up.
Roman suddenly realized that maybe this had been coming for a while. He realized that Virgil didn't really like to be the one to ask to go out, and that he very rarely showed affection unless it was started by Roman. Roman had simply assumed that that was just how Virgil was, but maybe he was wrong. Maybe Virgil's feelings had gone away much sooner than he began seeing Patton and Logan.
Regardless of when it had happened nothing seemed to answers Roman's question of why? Why had Virgil stopped caring? Why was Roman not good enough?
These questions continued to plague him for hours. It was only when he realized his parents would be home from work soon that Roman finally moved from the floor, carefully picking himself up. He wanted nothing more than to go to his room to continue being miserable, but remembered at the last second that there were still broken pieces of glass on the floor from when he had thrown Virgil's gift.
He picked them up carefully, hoping no one would notice the thing he had broken was missing. When he had finished with that he looked to the gift still on the floor, staring up at him. Roman glared at it, more tears falling from his eyes as he grabbed it, quickly throwing it in the direction of the trashcan and making his way to his bedroom. He didn't notice it missing the trash entirely, rolling underneath a cabinet in their kitchen, nor did he care.
He wanted nothing to do with the bear, and nothing to do with Virgil or either of his friends any more.
*gasp* another chapter??? This quickly??? Impossible-
Lmao yeah I've been in the mood to work on my books, and I'm going to try and just focus on updating this one for now. I don't have a schedule still, which means I'll either update like, three days in a row, or once in a week. I know, I'm terrible, but I've still got a lot going on in life so I'm trying my hardest. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this update and that you'll like having more updates randomly. Honestly, even though I don't really wanna do this, I might update more than once a day if you guys would like that. It all just depends on how motivated I feel to write, but I do plan on getting at least one more chapter written tonight so it's up to you when it gets posted.
Anyways, thanks for reading and thanks so much for being patient with me. I know it's annoying that I've been slow at updating at such an important part in this book, you all have made it clear that I'm doing that lol-but I appreciate that none of you have truly tried to rush me through this. You are all very kind, and continue telling me that I can take the time that I need and just-you guys are all amazing. This entire fandom is the best. So, thank you all so much. I hope that you enjoyed this chapter. Take care of yourselves!! Bye!-Bob
