I'm dedicating this chapter to my friend -Satan_- - because him constantly screaming at me is the reason I've finally gotten around to working on this again haha. Love ya, Logan. Thanks to him and to all of you who have stayed invested in the story even after all this time! <3
Time passed by. Things changed, and over time Roman's initial awkward feelings around his best friend's and his boyfriend's new relationship changed too. He found it less weird spending time with the three of them again, even as they did more couple like things.
It was... nice.
For the most part, they still acted just like the group of friends they had always been. They were still hardly separated when they weren't at school, they still went out places together and cuddled during movie nights. If there were a few more kisses shared with Virgil than there used to be, well, Virgil was happy, and Roman's boyfriends happiness made him happy too. Patton and Logan also seemed incredibly happy to have Roman back, and to be with Virgil. Roman was just glad that they were all getting along again, and that they all really cared for him.
"Hey, so I was thinking," Patton started one day at lunch during school. The groups attention turned towards him, and Patton smiled a little nervously as he continued with his thought. "Well, y'know... Me and Logan still go on dates, and so do Roman and Virgil, so... I dunno, I was just thinking, maybe me and Logan could sometimes have one on one dates with Virge too? It's... well, it's up to all of you, if you're all comfortable with it! It just... seems like a nice idea."
"I don't see why not!" Roman smiled at Patton, shrugging his shoulders. "I have no qualms with the idea. So I'll leave that up to you three."
"I like the idea of getting to have a date with Virgil sometime, so long as he is not opposed to it." Logan agreed, looking Virgil's way.
"Oh, then..." Virgil's face was flushed a pale pink, smile on his lips. "Yeah, I... that sounds nice."
"Yay!" Patton squealed excitedly, grinning widely. "How about a date tonight then, Virge? Just us? It's okay if that's too soon, of course! I just-"
"I'd love to, Pat." Virgil cut off his excited boyfriend, reaching over to squeeze his hand. "I can't wait."
Roman watched for a few moments as the two talked about their date that night, small smile on his lips. He directed his gaze over to Logan then, who was also fondly watching his boyfriends.
"I suppose that means we're out of plans for the night," Roman said, drawing Logan's attention.
"I suppose so." Logan agreed, shrugging his shoulders. He didn't mind when his boyfriends were so happy.
"Well, what about a date ourselves?" Roman offered, and Logan nearly choked on his sandwich.
"I-I'm sorry?" He spluttered, and Roman quickly backpedaled.
"Oh, no no I'm sorry, I didn't mean-I meant a friend-date. A platonic hang out. Since our boyfriends are busy. That's all." Roman rushed to explain himself, looking sheepish.
"Ah, that makes sense." Logan said, clearing his throat awkwardly. "Yes, we could do that. It sounds like fun."

At the end of the day the four students still met up in front of the school in their usual spot. Roman and Patton met first, greeting each other kindly.
"Seen either of them yet?" Roman questioned, turning back to face the school doors that a sea of students trickled out of.
"Not yet!" Patton said, also turning to watch and bumping shoulders with Roman softly. "I'm sure they'll be out soon. I'm excited for our date."
"I can tell," Roman chuckled, glancing at his friend who was bouncing on his toes, grin wide. Roman tried to make himself appear more serious then, although his eyes were far too gentle and gave him away. "You better take care of my darling Virgil while you're out! If I hear about anything going wrong, well..."
Patton stifled his giggles behind a sweater paw, eyes crinkling as he nodded his head quickly. "No worries, Roman! I'm going to do my best to make sure Virgil has an amazing time!"
"Good." Roman smiled again, dropping the serious facade. He really was a good actor, but could anyone blame him for just wanting to smile endlessly when Patton was around? He was so kind, and quite frankly adorable. That was just a fact.
"Take care of Logan for me too! I hope you both have fun."
"I will be with my best friend, it is unlikely I won't have fun." Logan said, gaining the two boys attention.
"Logan!" Patton jumped into his boyfriends arms, squeezing him in a hug Logan immediately returned. "I missed you!"
"That's strangely sweet of you, Logan." Roman commented, smile on his lips. "But yes, I am quite sure the two of us are going to have a wonderful time!"
"Hey, guys." Virgil was the last to show, shifting the backpack he had slung over one shoulder. He was also tackled in a hug by Patton, Virgil trying to hide his grin by tucking his face into Patton's shoulder.
"Virgil! I'm so excited, I can't believe we're getting to go out together on a date today!"
"I'm excited too," Virgil said as he was released from the hug, smiling slightly at Patton and then glancing over to Logan and Roman. "So, I guess we'll all see each other again tomorrow?"
"Of course," Roman said, stepping over to Virgil to plant a long kiss to his lips. "Have fun, my emo nightmare."
Logan and Patton also shared a parting kiss, Patton wishing the same to Logan. After Virgil and Logan and Patton and Roman said their goodbyes the pair were waving as they started on their separate ways to both of their 'dates.'
I know this isn't much, but here's finally another Tally Marks update!!! I know it's been far too long and I do apologize. Life is honestly crazy, I've had an insanely rough last year(yeah, it's been over a year since my last update in this book). I'm only just starting to kind of get things back together, which is why this has been so put off. I'm absolutely trying my best to get back into it though, and now I have a better idea of where I'm taking this story up to the ending. ;)
I just want to thank you guys so so much for sticking around and waiting for this update to come. I've noticed multiple people who have even gone back and reread this book more than once!!!! And that fucking astounds me, I can't believe this book is good enough for some of you to be reread, and to wait an entire year for. I really really appreciate your kind comments, if it weren't for you guys continuing to enjoy and want more from this book I probably wouldn't have returned to it. I'm extremely grateful for your support, and I hope the rest of this book lives up to what you've all been waiting for.
Now, my plan for this book right now is to try and go back to my weekly upload schedule. Don't know what days yet or if I'll keep myself to a certain day/time, but I'm going to try to get a chapter out a week. Also, I think at some point I said there wasn't much left in this book? Yeah, I was totally wrong, I have plenty of material to keep this going quite a few more chapters. So, I hope you're all looking forward to it like I am!
Again, thank you so much. I love all of you guys, and I hope you're taking care of yourselves! Remember to stay at home and wash your hands, this corona virus is very serious stuff-anyways, I'll see you all next week with a new chapter. Bye!-Bob
