Virgil groaned as his alarm blared in his ears, not opening his eyes as he reached over to turn it off. It took multiple attempts, but at last the annoying machine was quiet. Unfortunately, by the time he finally got it to shut up he was already fully awake. Great, Virgil thought to himself. Second day of hell.
Even though Virgil wanted nothing more than to claim illness to avoid going to class, he knew that he needed to go; at the very least he should go so he could see his friends. He only wished he hadn't stayed up until two AM on his phone.
Letting out a frustrated sigh Virgil dragged himself up and out of bed. He got dressed quickly, most of his time being spent putting on his makeup. By the time he finished it was already time for him to leave for school, so he skipped out on breakfast-not unusual for him-and made his way out of the door. The one thing making his walk to school less unbearable was the knowledge that once he arrived he had a little bit of time to spend with his boyfriend and friends.
It wasn't a long walk, otherwise Virgil most likely would find another way to school, so he got there quickly and arrived just in time for Patton to show up. Patton was the only one among the group of friends that actually found mornings bearable, while the other three couldn't stand them. Patton seemed almost too happy in the mornings sometimes, but he seemed to understand that the others couldn't quite handle his cheeriness too early on in the day.
Patton made sure to keep his voice softer and not so excited, despite being extremely enthusiastic about seeing him again. He greeted him with a bright grin, and instead of immediately launching himself at Virgil to hug him he opened his arms to offer one if he wanted it. Virgil smiled appreciatively, sleepily shuffling closer to hug his friend.
"How are you today?" Patton asked as he pulled back from the hug. Virgil groaned.
"I'm exhausted." He complained, frowning and closing his eyes. "'M so tired I might just fall asleep standing up..." He yawned, and Patton laughed.
"How much sleep did you get last night?" He wondered, not expecting the answer to be an actually normal amount. Virgil never got enough sleep.
"Hm... three hours?" He guessed, thinking it over. He nodded. "Yeah. I'm surprised I got that much, really. I stayed up till five while on break."
"You really should work on fixing your sleep schedule," The two of them heard from behind them. They turned to see a very tired looking Logan stepping up to them, pausing to stifle a yawn. "You would most likely feel a lot better if you did, both physically and mentally."
"You sound like my parents," Virgil muttered, pouting as Patton laughed at him again.
"Well it's true! Sleep is important, Virge." He chastised, and Virgil rolled his eyes as Logan winced at Patton's loud voice. He leaned against Patton, reminding him that it was still way too early for him to sound so excited and loud. Patton apologized, kissing Logan on the nose and making his cheeks flush a light pink.
Virgil rolled his eyes at the couple, jumping when arms wrapped around his waist from behind. He felt lips on his cheek, turning his head to see Roman hiding his face in his shoulder. "Morning," he mumbled, smiling sleepily against his shoulder.
Virgil greeted him back with a small smile of his own, leaning to rest his head against Roman's. Both of them looked like they were going to drift off. They were brought back to reality when Patton laughed, both of them looking over to him and Logan, who looked just as ready to fall asleep as them. "You all look like you're gonna fall asleep standing up! Come on, we should start walking to class so you guys can wake up."
Patton started to tug Logan in the direction of the school, expecting Roman and Virgil to follow. Virgil started to go, but was stopped by Roman. "Actually, you guys go ahead. I wanted to talk to Virgil first."
Virgil and the other two were curious about what Roman wanted to talk to him about, but Patton and Logan didn't question him. Instead they said their goodbyes and left the two of them to talk. Once they were gone Virgil turned around so he was facing Roman, who still had his arms wrapped tightly around his waist. "So, what'd you want?"
"Meet up with me after school?"
"We always meet up after school." Virgil answered, knowing what he meant but enjoying making Roman's life more difficult. Roman sighed and shook his head at him, smiling fondly.
"I meant just us. You know, on a date." Roman explained. "Will you meet up with me or what?"
Virgil hummed, pretending to think about it for a moment while his boyfriend pouted. "Virgil!" He whined, the more darkly dressed teen letting out a laugh.
"Yeah, yeah, obviously you dork." He snorted, shaking his head at his dramatic boyfriend. He felt his cheeks flush when Roman cheered and pulled him into a deep kiss, returning it nonetheless. He rolled his eyes when they pulled away, not looking directly at Roman as he asked a question. "So, where are we going anyways?"
"That's a secret," Roman chuckled, leaving one more kiss to his boyfriend's nose before letting go of his waist. His laughter continued when Virgil complained, knowing the other hated when Roman wouldn't tell him things. He cut off Virgil's long rant on why he hated surprises(even though Roman knew that wasn't true), taking his hand and beginning to walk towards the school. "Stop complaining and c'mon. We're going to be late."
"I hate you," Virgil mumbled as he followed along, and Roman just laughed again.
"Yeah right. You know you love me." He teased, and Virgil sighed.
"Unfortunately." He said, and Roman shook his head with a small smile. He squeezed his hand gently, glancing over at Virgil adoringly.
"I love you too, Virgil."
