Harry’s POV
“Harry,” Liam called to me from his seat next to me. I am driving Louis’ car while Louis and Niall are fast asleep in the backseat. “Do you know what I did wrong?” I sighed because Liam has asked this already no less than ten thousand times. I know he is heartbroken and I want to help him the best I can, but I think secretly some part doesn’t want to let Sarah go at all.
“Apparently enough for her to want to break up with you,” I suggested.
“But what? Did stress get to her, get to me? I don’t get it,” Liam muttered. “I thought things were going so well when we made up, but then she blew up again! The urge to text her is tremendous and I’m surprised I’ve managed a whole two days without texting her,”
“I am impressed,” I told him quietly since two of my mates are sleeping. “She might come back, mate, maybe she is overloaded with responsibilities right now,”
“I hope because if we never get back together,” Liam trailed off and I gulped when I form a mental picture of Liam getting really depressed and hooked on some illegal substance. “The thought of just not touching her pains me,”
“We are talking non-sexual touching, or are we—” Liam shoots me an obvious look and I change the subject since I’d rather not know the extent of Liam’s sexual imagination, “It’ll get better, mate, you just have to believe it will,”
“I wish I did,” Liam moaned, “I mean, I thought everything was going great and then she catches me kissing my dancing partner on the cheek and she just…quits?” Liam’s voice started to get louder and with one hand I tried to shut up, but it’s not working, “I mean, who does she thinks she is? I don’t want something like this plopped onto me and then it’s over! I’m just frustrated with myself in all facets of life, and with everything I did with her!”
I glance in the rearview mirror and somehow both of the lads are still asleep, but Louis starts twitching abnormally. “I just want to text her and apologize twenty thousand times over and call her, but I’m afraid I’ll ever get Jenny or she’ll just hang up like she doesn’t even know me!” Liam continued, “Ugh, women can be so confusing. Have you just wished you could enter the brain of one and finally figure out what you did wrong?” Liam looked at me expectantly as I sip from a drink I have.
“No, I think I’d rather enter Louis’ brain and learn why he acts like he does,” I whispered to him. I figured saying his name would wake him up, but instead he swats the air as if a bug was nearby. “I mean it’s bound to be a fascinating place,”
“You know, if I had no idea how straight you two actually were, I would suspect you would be dating Louis,” Liam confessed. I think about that for a moment.
“He does have a thing for brunettes,” I pointed out. Liam just gives me a bewildered look while I hear mumblings from behind me. I turn around and I see Louis slowing coming to his sense. Louis turns to see Niall leaning on his shoulder and he has a freaked out expression. Louis then calmly repositioned Niall in his sleep so he wasn’t on him.
“Who has a thing for brunettes?” Louis asked groggily.
“It’s not important, mate,” I reassured him. “We are in Colorado by the way, only a few more hours,”
