Harry’s POV
The large part scatters to the outskirts of the stage as my solo comes up. The new song cues ‘One Day More’ and I slowly make my way to center stage with the lights all beaconed to me. I face the audience proudly as I have for the past several days now for the last time. “One Day More,” I sang.
“Another day, another destiny, this never-ending fight with the loch. These men must come to face the Nessie to know true freedom from evil. One Day More,” I take a deep breath as I sing with the large part, “The time is now, the day is here!” I swallow the biggest breath I can muster. “One Day More!”
I walk forward as everyone crowds behind me. The large part sings as I’m handed the sword and for the thousandth time, I draw the sword and lift it up in the air. “Tomorrow we’ll be far away! Tomorrow is the conquering day.”
“Tomorrow we’ll discover what fair vile Nessie has in store! One more night, one more day, one day more!” I hold the last note along with everyone else and we received the biggest applause we have ever gotten. Once we wrap up that note, we go straight to ‘Mr. Roboto’. I sing with the entire group as the Nessie statue makes its appearance and shows off what it can do.
I hurry offstage left with Jenny and we pass by Sarah, both of us give her a high-five. Sarah begins her routine which gives me a few seconds to rest which is always gladly appreciated after the hardest number of the show. Once Sarah’s sword flashes in the air for the last time, I walk quickly to be on time for the celebration songs.
I turn around in the number as I always do when Jenny is revealed to me for the first time in her beautiful blue dress in the show. It’s probably my favorite moment in the show because I feel my breath being taken away every time I see her in that dress and it happens every single time! It didn’t happen just the first time, but every time.
I hold out my hand to her and she puts her hand in mine as we walk towards center stage and we sing our duet set to ‘Colors of the Wind,”. For the last time, Jenny tells me, “I look round as I find myself awake. I get to see for the first time. I see all the moors, the lochs, and the forests. I’m finally free to live my life again.”
Jenny then begins our next lines with me following her at a beat or two behind. As always, we turn to face other holding both of our hands together. “Here we are with the Loch Ness monster gone, free at last and we never felt this relief before,”
I draw her closer to me now we are almost touching our foreheads and our mics barely centimeters away. Together we sing, “Can you sing with all the voices of the Loch Ness? Can you hear the freedom come to our people? Can you paint the trails of victory anew?” The instrumental part cuts off after a time leading to our closer, ‘Happy’.
I burst into dance and I let go of Jenny’s hands as we perform our last routine. It’s crazy that this will be the last time I perform this show. All of it. Thinking about it too hard makes me sad, but it also makes overjoyed. I will soon have freedom and time and energy to do other things. This Spring Sing will always be close to my heart because it brought back Jenny and I together better than we had ever been.
Life only gives us a few second chances, so whenever we get one, we have to take advantage because it may never come around again. I want to take opportunity thrown at me because I’ll never know how it affects me until I do what is laid before me. I put my arms down in a cradling position as Jenny jumps into my arms for the final move.
