Niall's POV

I straightened my black tie in the mirror as I reflect as what has happened. Cara has had a very hard time staying upbeat since the night I got the call about her friend's death. I see the red eyes that have become a regular part of her face for the past three days. I'm staying in the guest bedroom at Cara's house and that is where I am right now.

I haven't decided when to step out of the room because I hear the sobs of Cara and her mother recollecting how amazing Maggie was. I couldn't hear the words exactly, but I could tell from the tone and the volume that they were good memories. Times of joy, excitement, and hope all danced a story that described her life. Most of us would only be so lucky to live such a fulfilled life.

After a few moments, I walked out the door and Cara takes my breath away. Cara is wearing a little black dress with black heels and a belt on her waist. She's not wearing her glasses and her hair is curled that gave her hair an extra waviness. Cara flashed her beautiful smile in my direction and waved at me even if it seemed forced from her at the time.

When we got close, we hugged each other deeply and I shook her mother's hand. Cara's mother is a very beautiful woman for her age with the same black hair of Cara and the same shaped face of her as well. Her mother is a few inches than her though so she's actually taller than me unlike Cara. I could tell from her mom that she was also having a hard time accepting the death.

"Can we talk alone for a minute before we leave for the church?" Her mother asked me quietly.

"Yes, ma'am, it'd be my pleasure," I answered back. Cara had instructed me that I needed to woman much older than me out of respect. Personally, I don't do that back home, but I think it's a good idea.

"Please excuse us for a moment," Mrs. Wheeler told Cara. Cara simply nodded. Mrs. Wheeler led me to the kitchen away from the Cara. This was the first time we really talked alone because Cara and I did not make until supper time yesterday since Cara wanted to skip as few classes as possible. "Niall, thank you for driving Cara here. It means a lot to her that you were willing to take a day off from school in order to come with her for the funeral. I'm sure Cara wouldn't have come if it wasn't for you,"

I smiled a small grin. "Thank you, Mrs. Wheeler,"

"Many of us are dramatized by what has happened recently, but I know it hit Cara the hardest. Maggie was her best friend since she could walk and they were inseparable in elementary, junior, and senior high school. It always hard to lose someone so dear expectantly like this, but Cara is having a hard time accepting what has happened," She told me worried.

"I understand, Mrs. Wheeler. I simply just want to be there for her. I would be a lousy boyfriend if I wasn't," I assured her. She smiled back.

"Good," She checked her watch, "Well, let's get going, I'm sure he's already there," I think she was talking about Mr. Wheeler, Cara's dad. She walked out of the kitchen and I followed her. We came up to Cara standing and looking one of the windows. "Cara? Are you ready?" She called.

Cara simply turned around to look at us. "Yeah, I'm ready, let's go," Cara said listlessly. I softly held her hand in mine and Cara turned to look at me and smiled back with a closed lip smile. I followed her mother into the car all of us would be riding in. Mrs. Wheeler drove while Cara and I sat in the backseat together not once letting go of her hand.

We drove in complete silence on the way there not even the radio was turned on. I looked over to Cara to see if she was ok and I think Cara will always be a little reluctant for a long time, but she wasn't fidgeting nervously like she was on the way here. I took my hand holding her hand and I let go of her hand to wrap my arm around her shoulders. I purposely sat in the middle so I could sit right next to her.
