"I never wanted anyone or anything the way I want you." - Brett Kissel
Sasha
I nearly screamed in agony when I woke up. The pain was everywhere, and I couldn't tell where it had come from. My senses became a little more clear and the first thing I heard were silent muffles in the room.
"Sasha?" I heard a deep familiar voice.
I was too afraid to move, expecting more pain if I did.
"Sasha?" The voice became a little more clear.
My blurred vision became a little more clear as well when someone's face appeared right in front of me.
He looked oddly familiar. He stared at me, a worried expression on his face. Where had I seen him?
Then, his lips broke into a delighted expression.
"Where am I?" I tried to ask, but it came out more like, "wah ah I?"
His eyes were deep red and teary, like he had been crying. "You're in the hospital, Sasha."
That's when it clicked.
His voice.
His smile.
His lips.
His face.
Damn it. I couldn't figure out who he was.
"Who are you?" I asked.
He didn't answer. Instead, he let his head down.
I gasped.
Luke.
I didn't know how I remembered who he was, but I will never forget that moment when our lips first met.
"Luke?" I choked out as clearly as I could.
His smile reappeared and he looked up. "You remember me?"
I reached out to him with my left arm, as if to ask him to hold me. He stood up and gently took my painful body into his. His arms warmed my body as I rested my head in his chest and he placed his cheek on my head. I was still in my laying position but he lifted my head against his body.
"You're alive," Luke muffled in my hair. "You're alive. Oh, God. Sasha, I miss you. I'm so sorry."
I couldn't lift my other arm up to hug him tighter, so I did my best with my left arm.
After he held me long enough, he gently set my head back on the pillow. He took out his phone from his pocket and dialed a number.
Then, my favorite memory came back to me while he called someone telling them that I was awake.
I was so tempted to see if he had any images of his ex-girlfriend so I seized his phone in my hands and touched the photos app.
I don't know why I did. I guess I couldn't help myself.
"Hey, what are you doing?" He asked as he reached for his phone.
I pulled back and stood up. "Just looking."
"For what?" He stood up as well.
"Your ex." I stepped back as I scanned through his gallery to find photos of any girls.
"I don't have any─" He tried to reach for me again so I turned around and started cantering around the edge of the lake.
I heard his footsteps running behind me, coming after me. "Sasha! Get back here!"
