"There will be no next time." - Eminem
Luke
"You two need to get out of here, and I mean now," Chris commanded.
I stared after Sasha as she ran up the stairs, my mouth hanging open.
"Come on, Luke. Let's go for a walk." Kat dragged me to the front door.
She tried to hold my hand but I quickly stuffed it in my pocket.
"You should've never done that," I grumbled.
"So? Why shouldn't I?"
"You do realize that you just ruined our entire relationship, right?"
"Yeah, but it's okay. You ha─"
"Oh, my god Kat! It's not okay!" I yelled. "I love Sasha!"
"Okay, I'm sorry. But don't you think she's a bit rude to me?"
"Yeah, and I don't really blame her. You're practically stealing me away from her. She's my girlfriend and you should've stayed away from me."
"Luke─"
"And I know the real reason why you're here. Don't lie to me."
That shut her up and her cheeks started to blush.
"Just... leave me alone," I muttered.
She stopped in her tracks and I walked by myself along the road.
I didn't even bother to go back and try to talk with Sasha because I knew she would just shove the door in my face.
She must be angry.
Broken all over again.
All because of me. It would always be because of me.
I should've never gave in to the kiss when Kat tried to kiss me. I knew the only reason she came here was to get me back, to ruin my relationship with Sasha. That was Kat, that's what she did.
I swallowed the pain in my throat and sat on a bench by the library. I couldn't bear to think of the pain of losing Sasha again.
"The things you love the most are the things that destroy you." Her words came back to me.
I knew what she meant by that now. She loved me, and I destroyed her. That wasn't love, I knew it wasn't.
I was too late. It was too late to fix the broken pieces in our relationship. Sasha would never let me get away with this, no matter how hard I tried. I couldn't imagine a life without her. I couldn't imagine a happy future without her.
By now, everybody already hated me, including my very own sister.
For once, I actually thought our relationship was beginning to get better. And now it was completely shattered by one mistake. Sasha was the only thing that kept me happy, feel good about myself. God, I couldn't imagine a life she wasn't in.
If she had really thought I stopped loving her the minute Kat arrived, she was wrong. I would never, and I mean never stop loving her. I didn't realize I was crying as I continued to imagine living my life without Sasha.
How much pain I've put her through, plus the hangover from getting drunk yesterday. I wanted to go back and fix everything, but that's not the way life worked. I couldn't go back to her, she wouldn't let me in her life anymore. My heavy heart was broken. I didn't deserve her, never had and never will. It was over. We were done, forever. I couldn't stand the agonizing pain in my heart. She was the only thing I needed to make me happy, to believe that their was a good future where we were together. I had no way of knowing what was going on in the house right now, but I knew it wasn't anything good. But I had to go back to make sure she was okay.
What was I thinking? She was probably feeling like hell. I went anyway, just to see what was going on. I didn't run into Kat as I sauntered back to the house, maybe she went back. I hoped not, because as well as I knew her, she would just go and make more trouble.
I didn't even have to go inside the house when I got back. Everyone was already outside, surrounded around Paula's old car. Gabrielle, Jordyn, Alex, Hazel, Aria and Vi were talking quietly with Sasha about who knows what. Chris was talking to Jesse while he was putting suitcases in the trunk.
Wait, suitcases?
There were about three of them. What was really going on? Was Sasha leaving No, wait. Was she moving? She had her purse slung over her shoulder and her head was down. Niether one of them had noticed me yet.
"I told my brother to take good care of you," I heard Gabrielle tell Sasha, who just nodded.
"From what I hear, he's really nice," Hazel said.
"You don't think she's missing anything?" Chris asked Jesse.
"I made sure I didn't throw in anything that would remind her of Luke, including the dress that she wore at the party," he responded.
That hurt. A lot.
She wanted nothing to do with me, nothing that reminded her of me.
Were they really helping Sasha move?
"Good," Chris said. "Let's just hope Blake isn't the asshole Luke is."
Of course, once Sasha hated me, so did everyone else.
"I told Sasha I'd check in with her everyday to see how she's doing," Jesse required.
"Yeah, I think we all should."
"Call us everyday, okay?" Alex insisted.
Sasha didn't speak.
Jesse slammed the trunk door closed and sighed. "She's definitely not going to be okay for a while."
"No, I'll be fine," she finally spoke. "I get to start a whole new life."
She faked a smile.
"I hope you can fix that smile. It looks so fake," Jesse teased.
Then she smiled, for real.
"Now that's what I like to see." Jesse grinned.
"Maybe she'll be okay after all," Chris thought.
"Let's hope so."
"Me and my parents visit Blake every year for two weeks. During Christmas holidays," Gabrielle mentioned. "Maybe when Christmas holidays come, we could all go."
"Am I included?" I asked.
Sasha's smile suddenly faded as everyone turned their heads to me.
Gabrielle snickered. "I'm pretty sure Sasha'd say no."
I swallowed the crying pit in my throat. "Can you guys explain what's going on here?"
It was Jesse's turn to snicker. "Don't even bother trying, Luke. She's done with you."
'That's not what I asked."
"Sasha, you should probably go before things get worse," Gabrielle suggested.
"Sasha?" I choked out through the throbbing pain in my throat.
She looked up to my eyes.
"I know a sorry will never be enough but... I'm sorry. And I... I don't want you to leave because of me, I don't want you to move on because of me. I... I just can't see my future without you."
I took a few steps towards her. "I'm going to miss you."
"I'm gonna miss you, too," she murmured quietly.
Please please don't leave, I prayed.
"But now I know what's really the right choice."
No, please don't say it. God, please don't leave me.
Don't say the words.
"Sasha, please," I cried out, letting go of the tears.
Then she said the words that hit my heart like a large rock and got scattered into billions of pieces.
"Goodbye, Luke."
