Chapter 11: Mourning

"I don't know what I'm supposed to do." - Lord Huron

I forced my head against his bed.

"Luke, why did you leave me?!" I lamented and creeped onto his bed. "I've lost everything!"

I clasped his pillow and sobbed into it horrifyingly and disgustingly. I weeped through the rest of the day until I fell asleep in Luke's scented bed.

Luke

"Honey, you need to get a job," Mom said.

"Honey, you need to get a job," I mimicked her.

She folded her arms. "Luke, I'm serious."

"I'm sick and tired of you telling me that, Mom!"

She sighed. "What do you want, Luke?"

"Well, what do you think?"

"Look, Sasha'll move on forward and she'll find someone she'll spend her entire life with. I think it's best if you do the same."

"Stop it, Mom! You know she's lost her father and now she's lost me... and I've lost her. Forever, apparently."

"You'll see her one day, that's for sure."

I was mourning, letting a droplet plunge out from my eyes. "I can't move on."

"You did when James passed away."

"Well, that's because he died. Sasha isn't dead."

She patted my back. "You can at least try."

"It's not even worth it. I've never felt this way about anyone. I've never felt this sorrow."

"Well, she got your letter so now she knows where you are."

"What? You think she's gonna come to LA now?"

"If she loves you that much, then yes."

"No, her mom won't even let her."

The front door opened and Vi ambled in. "Hey, guys."

"How was dance?" Mom asked.

"Great and exhausting. The usual."

"See? Violetta's making some progress."

"That's because she didn't have anything to lose."

"Try calling her. Maybe that'll make you feel better."

"It's going to make me miss her more just by hearing her voice." My throat had this crying pain in it.

Mom smiled. "Try it anyway."

Me and Sasha weren't even in an actual relationship, so why did I feel like I lost everything when I left her? And I didn't feel this pain when I left Kat? We had a real relationship.

I stood up and walked back to my room. I waited for Sasha to pick up as my phone rang.

The ringing stopped, but no one talked.
