Awaken by the sound of my son’s cries through the baby monitor, I rolled over onto my back and stared at the ceiling before getting up and going for him.

“Wassup son? Ya want some attention huh?” I lifted him.

Checking to see if he needed to be changed, thankfully he didn't. Heading back into our room, I got back into bed and laid down with him on my chest.

“Ya just wanted ta be with someone huh?” I smirked.

Lightly singing to him, I looked down to see him sucking on his thumb as his eyelids became heavy with sleep. After getting that shot from our doctor, I was out for the remainder of the day. Though I wasn't one hundred percent, I wanted to be as active as I can to give Misty a hand.

“Babe have you seen?” Misty came in the room.

“Shhh.” I shushed her a bit.

“Was he crying?”

“Yeah but he good now.” I laughed.

Gently kissing him on his forehead, she got in and laid next to me.

“Imagine when he starts to climbed out.” She laughed.

“As long as he’on ever tumble out, I’m cool.”

“That is true.” She nodded in agreement.

Laying in silence, we allowed him to fall deeper back into his sleep, before putting him back in his nursery. Coming back into the room, I smiled at my wife as she stood there.

“How are you feeling though?” She approached me.

Feeling on my face, neck and forehead, I chuckled.

“Better than yesterday, that’s fa sure.”

Holding her hands, I brought them to my lips, kissing them before looking up at her.

“Daddy’s gon be fine sweet face.”

“I hope so. You ready for breakfast?”

“Yeah. Just let me go clean up.”

“Mhmm.” She nodded and stepped back.

Standing to my feet, we share a kiss before she stepped aside to let me pass. Walking into our bathroom, I turned on the shower while I got my routine going.

Looking at myself in the mirror, I sighed as I examined the dark circles below my eyes and how pale I was. Sighing, I shook it off and got myself going.

“Puffin?” I heard Misty call.

“Ya tryna get in huh?”

Smirking, I looked out the shower door to see her standing there.
