We were in the kitchen while she was working on Sunday lunch. Chandra and em were coming over before me and my family went back to Atlanta.

“A nigga bored. Misty sleeping, Naima out back with Rod building something, ain't shit fa me ta do.”

“Go get some rest. You stay doing shit.” She laughed.

“But I'm not tired.”

“Yeen need ta be tired ta rest son.”

Sighing, the doorbell rang.

“There you go. God answered ya prayers. Go get tha door.” She laughed.

“Very funny. Ya know when Ion wanna do anything, thats when ya come bothering me.”

“Hush up and get the door.”

Shaking my head, I walked and got it. Smiling seeing Noonie and ha lah boyfriend, I let them in.

“Ouu, let me through, I need to use the bathroom.” She rushed passed us.

“Hey Mr. August.” Jaire laughed.

“Hey man.” We dapped.

Walking back into the kitchen, I took back my seat as he greeted my moms.

“Hey Mrs. Sheila.”

“Jaire, how are you love?” They hugged.

“Cool. Thanks again fa inviting me over.”

“You're welcome baybeh.” She smiled at him.

“You need help with anything?”

“She just shot-”

“Sure, you can help me cut these up.” She passed him the potatoes.

“Really momma?”

“Boy hush.”

“What's going on?” Amaiya walked in. “Hi maw, hi uncle Aug.” She hugged us.

“Hey love. Ya grandma being a hater.”

“Someone always being a hater to you Unc.” She laughed.

“Because niggas stay hating on tha kid.”

“You ain't been a kid in a long time so you need to stop that.” She laughed.

“Babe you gonna tell them or you want me too?” Jaire asked.

“Tell us what?” I then asked.

“We're having a baby.” Amaiya smiled as she hugged Jaire.

“What?” My momma spun around.

“Come again.” I got up.

“We're only joking. Relax.” Noonie laughed. “I'm still a virgin.”

“Yea, she still a virgin.” He cosigned.

“Better be.”

“But no, the real news is, Jaire took some time off to travel with me.” She smiled.
