Jayda

“Y'all have all that you need?”

“Yea.” They answered.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes Jay.” Lani answered annoyed.

“Hey I'm only making sure because when I drop y'all off, Monica and I will be doing our prom prep and I won't be able to leave anything to come back here so just make sure for me please.”

As they checked over their bags, I made sure I had everything I needed for Malik. I was taking him to the center for some stimulation activities they have for his age while Day and Lani were going to their activities.

Prom day was finally here and courtesy Mr. August and his wife, they had set up like a total spa thing for me and a friend.

When I told Monica, she was more than happy and didn't even asked who, which I was happy about. I was still contented with keeping certain aspects of my life private till further notice.

“Jay will I be seeing you in your dress tonight?”

“Yea bro. When I'm finished with what I have to do, I'll be back for y'all and Malik and then we're going to Nai house.”

I was getting ready over there for the fact that I wanted to include them in this moment. They've done so much for me that I couldn't.

“Then when I leave, Mr. August gonna take you over to Mrs. Sarah’s house and Malik to his grandmother.”

“Oh OK.”

Finally pulling off, my day had begun. I was a bit nervous as to how tonight was going to go but at the same time I was excited.

“Jay did Monica ever get back to you on the scholarship thing?”

“Not yet, why?” I glanced over at her.

“Was just wondering.” She shrugged.

“Y'all know if I go we'll still be together right?”

“We know but either way, we want you to go.” She admitted.

“Oh!”

“Yea. We don't want you to think that you have to put it on hold for us.” Lani added.

“Well baby bro. Either way I'm y'all legal guardian so I gotta do what I gotta do to make sure y'all are straight.”

Both nodding, I placed my focus on the road. Dropping Lani off at his soccer class first, then Day at her gymnastics class, I was on my way to the center to drop off Malik.

“How you going back there bub?” I glanced at him in the mirror.

Making eye contact with me, he smiled then sneezed. I didnt know where that cold had come from with him but he was doing fine regardless.

“Come on love.” I got him out his seat.

Grabbing his bag, I kissed his cheek before walking up the stairs and entering. Ms. Jones was there on weekends and like everyone else, she loved Malik.

“There's my little husband.” She smiled as she saw us.

As usual, he instantly began to act up all excited.
