Chapter Twelve

I jumped into the extremely cold water.
"Oh my God" I screamed clutching my arms.

He laughed "You're so cute"

"Its so not funny, you made me think it wasn't so cold" I shivered.

"We could..you know do something so it won't be cold anymore" He smirked.

I glared at him "In your dreams, I'm getting out of here"

"Wait" He grabbed my hands "Just stay a little while, you'll see it wont be so bad"

"How are you not feeling this cold, are you some devil or something"

He laughed, his head going backwards.
I took a second to admire him. His hair was sticking to his face, full brows and abs that could melt you to your feet. I felt like running my hands over it.

"Like what you see?" He smirked

"What.. I.. I" I was suddenly speechless, he knew he was hot.

He came closer and twirled my hair in his hands.

"Don't worry, Serena, you're hot too"

I almost died, my God, I was thinking out loud and did he just call me hot. I wanted to enter into this water and never come out.

I came back to reality "I don't think you're hot" I folded my arms

"Oh really" He raised a brow, coming much closer to me.
Oh no! I think I'm going to faint.

"Y.. Yes really" I managed to say, I couldn't even look at him.

"Then you wont mind if I do this" He grabbed my waist and pulled me close to him, closing the space between us.

"I.. Uh" I couldn't even feel the cold again, everywhere was suddenly hot and I couldn't breath.

He smirked liking the effect he had on me.
"What did you say?" He asked looking at my lips and even gripping his hands on my waist tighter.

Before I knew it he tilted his head and was leaning in to kiss me, I came back to earth quickly and placed my hands on my chest to stop him.
He may have those effects on me but I wasn't going to give in quickly.
"It's late I think we should go" I said.
He blinked twice "Yeah we should"

I got out first and he followed. I instantly regretted everything and most importantly, not kissing him.
I was so close to doing it, but I think it was all going to fast.

I liked Lucas but he was Lena's ex and apparently very handsome, he should have thousands of girls swooning over him.

I squeezed the water from my hair, my clothes were dripping wet.

"You're dripping" He stated the obvious as he put on his jacket.

"I don't know how I'll get into the house without my mom thinking I went on a secret swim"

He chuckled "She probably wont notice"

I looked at him "Really"

Asif on cue, rain started drizzling.
We both looked up and then it began pouring heavily.

"This rain just made your day" He said.

"I know right" I smiled.

We started running to his car and I realised we ran here, so his car would be very far from here.

I was so cold and was shivering bad bad. I folded my arms across my chest.

Lucas glanced at me and then took off his jacket before placing it on my shoulder.
I gave him a small smile which he returned and we finally reached his car.

I didn't feel like being anywhere near Lucas especially in a tight place like his car.

"Goodnight I guess" I said as he opened the car door

"Wha.. No I'm not leaving you here" He turned to me.

"My house isn't far from here"

"Its raining heavily, you're shivering and I'm not complaining"

"Lucas..."

"Please Serena let me get you home"

I sighed and got in the car before he drove off.

I gave him directions to my house and then I noticed the jacket Lucas gave me was the school's football team jacket.

"I didn't know you were on the team" I said.

He seemed surprised "You're a cheerleader and you dont know who you're cheering for" an amused smile on his lips.

I mentally face palmed myself.

"I'm the quarterback incase you were wondering" He said feeling proud of himself.

"How did I not know that?" I shook my head.

"Its okay,I forgive you"

I laughed lightly as he pulled up in front of my house.
He glanced at my house slightly before turning to face me.
He must be thinking why my house isn't as large as everyone in Lakeview.

"Your house is nice" He said

"Thanks" I handed him his jacket "Thanks for driving me"

"It was no problem, I had fun"

"Me too" I opened the car door.

"Goodnight" He said again.

"Goodnight" I got out from his car and entered inside.

I shut the door behind me and smiled to myself.

"What are you smiling about"
I jumped hearing my mom and clutched my chest.

"Mom!, you scared me. I didn't know you were home"

"Yeah, you should have seen your face" she laughed
This is weird, mom was laughing.

"Not funny" I took off my shoes and dumped then beside the door.

I entered the kitchen with her and sat while she put a plate of tacos in front of me.

"Where did you go?"

I shrugged "Nowhere"

She raised a brow like you-just-came-through-the-door

"I went out with a friend" I gave in

"And when will I meet this boy"

"What makes you think its a boy"

"I saw the car pull up in the driveway"

"Oh"

"Yeah, Anyway I found hundred dollars in my purse"

"Your secret admirer decided to drop something" I said looking down on my plate.

"Serena dont lie to me, where did you get that money from?"

I sighed and dropped my fork "I got a job"

"You what!" she shrieked.

"Mom its okay, I'm still alive"

"I told you I dont want to you working, you already have school"

"Dont worry about me" I said.

"Its my job to worry about you" she sighed.

"I'm not quiting the job anyway, I like the job and I want to help"

She looked at me longily before holding my hand in hers' "I'm lucky to have a daughter like you" she smiled sadly.

I smiled back and we hugged.
