Chapter Thirty

Serena

One week later, I was back to my life without Lucas.
To be honest, I missed him and it was hard seeing him everyday but not being with him.

   Emily and I were in the cafeteria and obviously she was chatting away while I just stared at her, oblivious of what she's saying.
"You're not listening to me, are you?" she said

"Of course I am" I defended.

"What was the last thing I mentioned"

"Uh..."

C'mom Serena think of any hot celebrity.

"Cole Sprouse" I blurted out

"I didn't mention him, but Oh my God, Serena you have a crush on him right"

"No I don't..I mean yes I actually do"

She looked at me skeptically "Cole Sprouse is good looking but I prefer his twin"

"How do you even know their difference"

"You just know" she shrugged

My gaze fell on Lucas, he was sitting at a table with his friends who were laughing away. He wasn't really into the talk.

His eyes caught mine and we were just staring at eachother, there were so many emotions behind the look. I just couldn't bring my eyes away until he did.
He looked away.

"Don't worry" Emily said looking at Lucas and then at me.

"Do you think I should have given him a second chance"

"It doesn't matter anymore"

I looked down at my plate.
"I just feel really bad"

"It'll go away" she told me.

I was taking a drink and finishing my assignment later that night when mom got back.
I greeted her before she went upstairs to freshen up.

The doorbell rang seconds later.
I stood up to get it and saw the least person I was expecting.
"Lena, what are you doing here?"

"So you live here?"

"No I just came to pee" I answered.

She scoffed "Well then you should tell your mom to stop hanging around with my dad, he has a family and I know she's doing this cos of his money.."

"Wait. What?!" I blinked

"I just saw my dad drop off your mom right now" she said

"You must be mistaken, Lena, my mom wouldn't do that. Not with a married man"

"What can I say" she shrugged.

"Okay can you just leave, my mom's upstairs and she's can't hear this..."

"So you think I'm lying" she said "Was I lying about the Lucas issue?"

My heart flipped at the mention of Lucas' name.
"W-Whatever just leave"

She looked at me one last time before turning her heels and walking to her Rover.

I shut the door before mom came down.

"Who was that" mom asked.

"Uh.. just some wrong house issue" I told her.

"It didn't sound like that"

Okay she got me.
"It was some annoying girl at school" I said picking my pen up.

"What did she want"

"Nothing much" I shrugged
"Mom did you just get back from work" I asked changing the topic

"You saw me get in the house"

"Like did you come home straight from work"

"Of course. Where else will I go" she took my drink and finished it.

"Mom!"

"Sorry" she gave me and apologetic smile.

I believed mom, she rarely dated and whenever she did, she always told me and I even get to meet the man.
If she was dating Lena's dad she would've told me and she knows better than dating a married man.

"What are you thinking about" she asked.

"Nothing" I said too quickly.

"I know when you're lying, Serena"

"How do you even know that" I shrieked.

"I'm your mother" she rolled her eyes "And don't you dare change the topic"

I got up and shut my books.
"I was just thinking of how I'll finish this bio assignment" I said to her before taking off.
