Chapter Fourteen

I was in the diner working when three friends came in and sat on Ashley's side of the diner. I continued my work and minutes passed, Ashley was nowhere to be found.

"Can you please get our order" the girls on Ashley's table said

"I'm sorry, I'll be right there"

I looked around for her before going into the store. I heard sobs from a corner which was definitely Ashley.

I squatted in front of her.

"What's wrong" I asked

No answer

"Look I can help you the rest of the night, but I cant leave you here like this"

She wiped her tears
"I'm just so frustrated with everything, Serena"

I sat beside her "I get, its annoying"

"Its not this, its my family" she mumbled but I heard it pretty clearly

"What do you mean" I scrunched my brows

"My foster parents are back in Chicago, they treat me horribly that  I had to run away, when I came here I thought everything with be better with me by myself but it's just worse"

"I work to fend for myself and its still not enough" she said

"Where are your real parents" I blurted and regretted immediately.

"They died in a car crash when I was six"

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry"

There I am always angry my father has never been there for me when someone I know lost both her parents

"Its Okay" she said "I'm just really confused on what to do"

"I think you should go back to your foster parents"

"I dont like them. They make things hard for me along with their real kids" she sighed

"You're welcome to stay with me" I offered

She shook her head "Thanks but I cant, I'll think of something"

I nodded "Thanks for listening"

"Anytime"

We got up and went into the diner back to work.
My gaze fell on Lucas, he was sitting at his normal table with his friends. He was on a black ripped jeans and blue button down shirt.

He smiled at me and I blushed deeply.

My smile faded away when I saw Lena come in with her friends and sat at the same table with the guys.

I took a deep breath and went over to get there orders.

Lena looked her normal classy self on a blue shorts and black crop top with a golden coloured jacket.
I was really jelous of her dressing.

"Um what can I get you" I got out a pen and pad from my apron.

Lena looked at me and smiled evily. She shifted dangerously close to Lucas and put her arms round him.  I scoffed.

"My friends and I will have strawberry milkshakes" she finally said
While Lucas and his friends agreed on fries.

I served them quickly to get away from her.

"What is this" Lena said to me looking at her drink "I wanted vannila not strawberry"

"You said you wanted strawberry, Lena" Lucas said to her.

How is he close to her and not be punching her right now.
"Its Okay, I'll get you vannila" I said with gritted teeth as I took the drink. I resisted the urge to pour it on her.

"She's the waitress, let her do her job" Lena said to Lucas as I left

I got back seconds later with a vannila milkshake.

"Better" she said and I left, Lucas gave me a worried look.
I know Lena just came here to annoy me. Hell, the hours I spend with her at practice is quite enough.

I served some other customers in peace until I heard Lena's annoying voice again.

I went over to the table boiling in anger. Everyone was up and standing while the whole table was covered in vannila and strawberry milkshakes which was dripping to the floor.

"What the hell, Lena?" I said fuming

"It wasn't intentional" she said with a fake voice "My hands slipped"

I glared at her and wanted to slap her face.

I brought a bucket, mop and napkins and began cleaning it up.

"Let me help" Lucas offered

"I dont need your help" I snapped

He looked hurt and after glancing at me one more time, he left the diner with his friends.
I was angry with Lena and wasn't meant to take it on Lucas. I felt really bad.

"Great, I bet he's really angry at you" she said and I ignored her.

"Look, Serena" she said again and I turned to her folding my arms
"You better stay away from Lucas or something bad will go down"

"Empty threats, Lena you can't do anything"

"You don't know who you're messing with" she warned

I rolled my eyes "You see Lucas and I are just friends and you should know he's over you"

"Okay then we'll see about that"

She turned her heels and walked away with her friends
And I was left with the stupid mess to clean up myself.
