Chapter Three

Serena

It was lunch time so I headed to the library cos I didn't really have any money on me. I've always wanted to get a job and help situations at home but mom wouldn't let me.

"Serena" I heard someone call from across the hall. I turned to see Emily walking towards me, she was on a black chiffon gown that looked so great on her.

Her hair was packed up in ponytail like mine everyday but I wore my normal skinny jeans and a blue top with sneakers.

"Hey, where have you been I've been looking for you since first period" she said.

"I didn't see you either" I replied.

She linked her arms to mine and started walking the direction she came from. "Cafeteria's this way"

"I know, I was going to the library" I stopped.

"Why, you're not hungry?"

"Not really.. I.." I looked for the right words to say.

"My treat"

"You don't have to.."

"I insist" she smiled

"Thanks" I smiled back

    We walked to the cafeteria and I got Chicken nuggets and apple drink while she got pizza, then went to her table.

Alexa and Ellie were there. They scowled when they saw me and I didn't care, I just sat beside Emily while they were across us.

"Um, Emily what is she doing here" Alexa asked sending daggers at me. I rolled my eyes. I promised myself I wasn't going to be the girl of yesterday.

"She's eating of course" Emily answered

"On our table" Ellie said fuming

"I'm pretty sure anyone can sit anywhere they like and if you don't wanna sit here, you can fuck off" I cut in and they gasped

They looked at each other and then got their bags and stood up.

"When you're ready to come back to us, Emily, you know where to find us" Alexa said and they walked off.

"Woah that was bad ass, Serena" Emily smiled at me

"Yeah figured out I should begin standing up for myself... Why are you friends with them anyway, they are clearly bitches"

She shrugged "We've been friends since like first grade"

"Oh, I didn't know.... You should go talk to them" I said.

"Nah, don't worry, they'll come around"

We continued eating and I remembered something.

"Is there gonna be cheer leading tryouts?" I asked her.

"Why are you asking?" she looked at me.

"I want to join cheer leading"

"Why would you want to join cheer leading?"

"What's with all the questions, I love dancing and I was in cheer leading in my former school"

"Lena is the head of cheer leading" she looked with a serious face

"She isn't going to stop me from joining"

"Yes she is, and if at all you get in, she's going to make you go through hell not to forget you're gonna worship her"

What! "I ain't worshipping anybody and I'm getting in that team, just tell me, when are the tryouts??"

She looked at me with concern "Its tomorrow during lunch"

"Great" I smiled.

"You don't need to do this"

"Yes I have and I will" I said "Why is Lena like that anyway?"

She shrugged "She just thinks she's the richest in this school and can get whatever she wants, however she wants it"

"Oh well" I said.

She was about to say something before a guy came, sat beside her and gave her a long kiss.
 
I smiled and shifted uncomfortably on my seat.

"Who's she" I heard him say and I looked at him. He had a beautiful pair of blue eyes and black jet hair, handsome features with muscles and abs.

"Matt this is Serena, she's new and Serena this is my boyfriend, Matt"

"Pleasure" Matt said grabbing my hands and kissing my knuckles.

Emily smiled at me and I gave her a smile back.

"I'll see you later, Em" he said to her before kissing her temples and walking away.

"Awwn.. Cute" I teased and she blushed deeply

"Shut up"

"He's really hot" I wiggled my brows at her

"Yeah Yeah, I know" she flipped her hair and we laughed.

  There was a loud noise coming from a table and we turned to see Lena and her gang plus a group of four boys chatting and laughing away.
Matt was one of them and the rest we're even more handsome than him.

"They like so much attention" Emily rolled her eyes.

I nodded in agreement "But Matt is one of them"

"Yeah. Those are his friends, Lucas, Zayn and Shawn. Hottest guys in school apparently. Lena used to date Lucas but I heard something happened during summer so they broke up, but I'm pretty sure she still likes him"

That explains why she was crying first day of school.
"Wow" I said not really interested in any of Lena's story "So she really likes him huh?"

"Yeah, a lot. One time Lucas was to be suspended for two weeks she took the blame and got the suspension"

"She's crazy" I chuckled "What does her dad do anyways"

"He owns plenty of hotels" she shrugged looking down at her food.

The bell rang and we stood up immediately, no one wants to be late.

"We have the next class together" she smiled.

I was actually happy, I had a nice friend in this shitty school.
