Chapter Forty

We got to the boutique and I was glad I changed my clothes because everyone here was looking fancy and I would've been looking so left out.

"Good afternoon Miss Lena" a worker at the entrance greeted.

"Hi Lexy"
Lena is known here, that wasn't surprising at all.

"What do you want to get today?"

"My sister and I here want a dress for our birthday this weekend and we want one of a kind please"

"Okay, I never knew you had a sister" the lady eyed me.
Great! Another nosey worker.

"Well I do- It's complicated... Can we just-"

"Oh yes" she led the way to another part of the shop where different beautiful dresses were hung.

"Are you sure all these are one of a kind?" Lena asked to be sure.
She obviously didn't want to walk into her own party and see someone wearing the same dress as hers'

"Yes, I'm positive"

"Okay thanks, we'll look around"

We started going around and some minutes later I saw a beautiful grey gown, it was flashy yet simple. I checked the price tag and it was $4000, I almost shit in my pants.

Four thousand for just a dress that isn't even a wedding dress.
The dress suddenly looked ugly. Well forgive me that I'm so broke.

I went round again and figured out this boutique isn't my thing.
The dresses here cost a lot, too much!

"Serena haven't you seen a dress you like.?" Lena asked me

"Uh I think we should just go to another shop"

"Why? They have like the best dresses in town"

"Yeah that's the point, they cost to much" I told her

She chuckled "C'mon, it's daddy's credit card were using, he won't complain plus it's our birthday"

I bit my lips. I felt guilty for spending all this money.

"Don't worry" she told me "Just pick out a dress and shoe you'll like, I'll be in the dressing room.

I nodded and she left.

I saw another dress that caught my eye. It was peach and had shiny studs all over, the back was open and it had a long slit at the right leg. At least it cost 3,000 so I was a bit relieved.
I got a normal black heels that wasn't too high and made my way to the changing room.

Lena came out just before I entered and damn she looked good, her dress was black and body hug. It looked so formal and nice.
It looked too good on her.

"How is it?" she asked.

"It's very beautiful" I nodded in approval.

"Thanks I'll take it" she smiled.

I went inside to change while she stayed out admiring herself in the mirrors.

I got myself into the dress and went out to meet her.
"Oh my gosh, Serena you look gorgeous!" Lena said

"Thanks and the heels?"

"It fits you perfectly"

"Okay great"

We changed to our normal clothes and bought some accessories before paying for everything and then got the shopping bags to the car.

After getting everything in the trunk, I felt someone walk up to me. I looked up.
"Lucas."

"Hey, how are you" he asked me.

"I'm great, what are you doing here?"

"I just came to get somethings"

"Okay cool"

"Uh Serena... Can we go get some lunch"

I turned to Lena and she nodded in approval. I turned to him.

"I would love to"

"I'll see you later Serena" Lena said as she got into the car.

"I see you're bonding up with Lena now" he said as we walked to his car.

"Yeah and she's not bad" I shrugged

"I once told you that and you didn't believe me"

I chuckled and got into the car.
"Your bandage is off and you look more pretty" he said to me.

"Thanks" I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear.

"So how does McDonalds sound?"

"Great"

Minutes later we got there and ordered cheeseburgers and fries.
"So what's up" I asked him

"Nothing much, I got back from practice and my annoying sister begged me to go grocery shopping, that's why I was coming from the store beside the boutique" he rolled his handsome blue eyes.

Get a grip Serena!, eyes can't even be handsome.!

I chuckled "Typical Chloe, I miss her. How's she?"

"She's fine but definitely still annoying"

"Yeah yeah" I laughed.

"So what about you, seems like you were getting a dress"

I swallowed a fry before speaking up "Yes our birthday is next weekend so we were getting our dresses-- Yeah that reminds me.."

I searched my bag for the invitation cards and handed him one.

"Wow so fancy" he commented reading the details.

"You have to bring a date, we hand invitations to only guys" I explained.

He leaned back in his chair "Interesting"

"Yeah"

"And what if I want to bring you as my date" he asked.

I almost choked on my fry. He's joking right?

"Uh, I don't know, I'll have to ask Lena-- you know-- she's the planner and stuffs" I started rambling.
I couldn't even look at him.

"Well you should ask fast cos I want to go with you" he said like it was normal.

"Why would you want to go with me?. You don't like me"

"Look Serena, I've always loved you, when you broke up with me I've been trying to fight it and I didn't want to appear weak when you came back-- I know it's a lot to take in right now and you've obviously moved on. But-"

"Lucas stop" I said to him.

His lips pursed
"I've always loved you too"  I told him.

He flashed a smile and hugged me like he has been dying to.
