Chapter Sixteen

I looked at myself in the mirror and was satisfied with the make up, it was light yet beautiful and my hair was in a ponytail like how everyone else will be.

"You're very pretty" Chloe said smiling at me like I was her child

"Thanks and thanks for everything" I said sincerely.

"I'm glad I could help"

   I left to meet Lucas, he was leaning on the wall beside her room. He stood upright when he saw me.

"The outfit looks so nice on you"

I looked down at it "Yeah, Lena did me a favour"

"Yeah" he chuckled

My eyes darted to the wall clock in the hallway.
"O M G, Lucas is 5.20 we have to rush"

"I agree"

We got into his car and he drove to school quickly.

We were there 20 minutes later and bid goodbyes cos the cheerleaders were in the gym while footballers were changing in the locker room.

The cheerleaders were lined up in the gym with Lena at the front. I went to stand beside her.

"Sorry I'm late" I announced and she looked up and down at me horrified. Yeah she definitely did that to my outfit.

She was still speechless till the coordinator came to tell us we would be out in five minutes.

"Serena" she looked surprised "I thought you weren't coming anymore" Miss Smith said to me.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world, even if certain certain people want me to" I turned to Lena and she glared at me.

Miss Smith smiled at me before looking at her wrist watch.
"Okay it's time, go, go, go" she screamed as Lena and I walked forward to the field entrance.

We went in first with a cartwheel and the crowd cheered loudly as they saw us.
We stopped when we were in the middle of the field while the rest entered waving their pom poms.

I spotted Emily in the crowd cheering and waving at me. I flashed a smile at her and she turned her back showing me she was wearing Matt's Jersey, I gave her a thumbs up before we started dancing.

After the dance there was a thunder clap and everyone cheered at us. I was so happy as my chest heaved up and down.

I scanned the crowd for mom, but didn't see her before we went to our reserved front seats on the bleachers.
The rival team from Westlife high came in and the school mates at the opposite side of the bleachers cheered at them.

Our team came in and we all clapped and cheered. I spotted Lucas at the front as their quarterback, he was smiling at the crowd, that gorgeous smile. His hair was as usual falling down to his forehead and his blue eyes lit.

His eyes fell on the cheerleaders and when he saw me he smiled even wider and wink!
Oh God, I felt weak. Who am I kidding I wanted to be more than friends with him.

The game began and everywhere was tensed and awfully quiet.
I didn't care less about the game, I just wanted it to end so I can hang with Lucas.

Lucas.

He has been on my mind lately and I don't understand why. A part of me wanted to be with him and a part of me screamed Noo!!

The other side of the crowd cheered which snapped me out of my thoughts. I realized Westlife just scored. I glanced at Lucas who was pissed as he combed his fingers through his hair, that sexy gesture.

Focus Serena, your school team team is loosing.

The game went on and by half time Westlife had 2 points and we had 0, everyone was beyond pissed, no one made a sound while Westlife were rejoicing.
The team were on the sidelines discussing on what to do and five minutes later the game commenced.

At the end of the game we won, we had 5 points while they were still on 2.
Everyone was happy including me.
Lucas and his friends were rejoicing on the field. I stood up to congratulate him as the crowd were already reducing.

Halfway to meeting Lucas, Alex came to my front. I was beyond surprised.

"Wow Alex, you're here" It came out more like a question.

"Yeah, your mom couldn't make it so she gave me the ticket"

"Oh, that's great" I said and glanced at where Lucas was, he wasn't there anymore.

"You were great out there" he said beaming at me

"Thanks" I smiled

Emily came towards us and gave me a hug.
"We won" she exclaimed. I didn't know she was really into the game.

"Yeah we did"

"You were so good, I never knew you could dance like that" she said again.

I smiled and realized Alex was still standing there "Oh, Alex this is my friend Emily... Em, he's Alex"

They exchanged pleasantries before Emily turned to me.
"By the way, Are you going for the after party at Lena's"

"Lena.. No I think I'll pass"

"C'mon it'll be really fun forget her personality, Lena hosts the most awesome parties and Lucas will be there" she wiggled her brows.

I rolled my eyes to cover the fact that I was blushing from the mere sound of Lucas' name.

"I really don't want to go plus I'm extremely tired"

"Okay I understand but I still have to for Matt, I'll call you later alright"

I nodded and she headed off

"Let's go home?" Alex offered.
I scanned the field one more time for Lucas.
"Are you looking for someone" he asked again

"Um.. No let's go"

We started walking home and he was talking about different things I wasn't even listening to, my mind was on Lucas and on the fact that he would probably go to Lena's party.

"Who's Lucas anyway" Alex asked which brought me out of my thoughts.

I wonder how he knows him. Oh Emily mentioned him.

"He's a friend" that I wanted to be more with.

" He sounded more than a friend" Alex said looking forward.

"What?!"

"When Emily mentioned him, your face went red"

"No it didn't"

"Yes it did"

I rolled my eyes and didn't want to argue with him anymore.
