Serena
"There was only one nice person, One!"
I emphasized to Alex, my best friend, we have been best friends since we were 8, when he moved in with his family beside us. He has spiky black hair and grey eyes, his parents were not all that rich but they were comfortable.
We used to go to the same school together at Satires high until I got a scholarship at Lakeview.
"Yeah just one, I get it" he laughed
"Its not funny" I deadpanned.
"I warned you about that school"
"And what was I supposed to do, reject the offer?" I asked raising my head from the couch, I was lying back down on the couch and he sat at the other end, so my leg was on his laps.
"That's not what I said" he rolled his eyes "Whatever you're in the school already"
"Yeah, whatever" I knew Alex didn't like me going to Lakeview.
"So this girl, she's pretty nice"
"Yeah her name's Emily, she seems rich. Well everyone there is"
He frowned at that, and he looked at me with concern in his eyes.
"I'm fine, Okay.. I will be"
"Serena..."
"I'll survive Alex, quit worrying. Besides dont you have a dinner to get to"
"Shit" he cursed before standing up and flinging my leg causing me to fall down on my butt.
Yeah I get that a lot, treating me like one of his football teammates."Sorry" he said before dashing out the door.
Alex's older sister was in town with her husband, so they were having dinner which he forgot.
My mom told me I have a sister, twin sister actually. Apparently months after mom gave birth to us, she and dad got in a fight which resulted to separation.
So dad took my sister with him and mom with me. They think it was an equal share of responsibilities.I asked my mom about my sister but she always shunned me off and all.
I went into the small kitchen of the house and opened the refrigerator, there was nothing to eat, just a frozen slice of pizza and drink.
I sighed, my stomach was grumbling, I haven't eaten since this morning and mom would want to eat the pizza after a hectic day at work. The front door opened and mom entered.
"Hey,honey" she chirped "how was school?"I turned to her and there was a bag in her hand.
"Please let it be food""I got some food, figured you'll be hungry" she said again and I beamed.
"I am starving"
"You didn't answer my question" she laughed
"Oh yeah, school was good". It wasn't a lie, but wasn't the truth either.
She unpacked the paper bag and revealed Tacos, my favorite.
We dug in, talking about different things and the Tacos was great.
"Mom"
"Yeah" she looked up at me.
"Where is my sister now"
She sighed obviously tired of my frequently asked questions.
"I really don't know, Serena" she replied
"Can you at least tell me her name"
"Trust me, it's for the best you don't know"
