Chapter Thirty Three

I was behind the counter when I saw Emily walk into the diner with a guy I recognized from school, he was Matt's friend.

But why were they together?.

He sat at a table while Emily came over to me.
"Serena, there's someone I want you to meet" she gestured to the guy.

"Why will I want to meet your rebound"

She laughed "What, No! He's a friend just come on"

"You know I'm working" I rolled my eyes.

"It won't take long"

I sighed "Okay"

We walked over to the booth he sat in, and we sat opposite him.

"So Zayn this is Serena, Serena he's Zayn" Emily introduced.

"Nice meeting you" he said

"Same here" I replied

There was a moment of awkward silence.
"So..." I looked at Emily and then at Zayn.

"I wanted to talk to you about Lucas" he said.

My lips pursed. I wasn't expecting that at all, the sound of Lucas name made my heart race a hundred miles.

"What about him?" I managed to say

He glanced at Emily.
"I wanted to explain what really happened, you two weren't meant to split up"

I narrowed my eyes at him "What do you mean, do you know he was using me?"

"I do.. I mean.. He wasn't" he said "Look I'm his best friend, even if Lucas doesn't show him emotions I know how he feels, he's not himself now and believe me when I say he loves you very much"

I took a deep breath "He doesn't, it was all a bet"

"Yes, he took that bet and that's because of the pressure from us, he didn't want to do it, and after sometime he cancelled, he told us he had feelings for you"

I looked down and he continued.
"Lena's a bitch that's why she poisoned your mind against him, he never meant to hurt you"

"Why are you telling me this" I asked.

"Uh.." he looked at Emily.

"Em, you planned this!"

"You didn't give Lucas a chance to explain, I figured out you would listen to his friend"

True, I didn't give him a chance, but hearing this from Zayn. It made me feel awfully guilty.

"Whatever I have to get back to work" I said.

"C'mon Serena..." Emily said.

"What do you guys want me to do?" I said and Zayn spoke up.
"Lucas is hurting and he isn't himself, can you at least make things right with him"

I was silent.

"I need my bestfriend back" he said again.

"I might think about it" I stood up

"Might. Really?" Emily scoffed.

"Please do" Zayn said as he stood up "I have to get going"
With that he left the diner.

Emily came to my front "Seriously Serena, you heard what he said"

"Why do you even want this so badly"

"You're terrible at hiding your feeling, Serena. I know you still love him deep down"

I bit my lip.
"You need to make things right and feel alive again"

I was still silent for a moment. It won't hurt to do this right.
"Fine I will"

She smiled "Great"

I gave her a small smile.
"I have to get going I'll see you tomorrow" she said and left.

Great! What have I gotten myself into.?

I got home and heard noises from the kitchen, two people actually talking. Mom never told me we had company.

I walked into the kitchen and saw mom and a man chatting away, he looked like he was in his late forties with slight grey hair, he was suited up and his cologne filled the house.

I hope he isn't who I think he is - Lena's dad!

"Oh Serena you're home" mom said when she saw me.

The man stood up and faced me, looking at me intensely and longingly, his eyes lit.

"Serena this is Mr Anderson"

It's Lena's dad.
I glared at mom and her eyes softened at me.

"Nice to finally meet you Serena, you can call me David" he stretched out his hand for a handshake.

I looked at him like he was nuts.
"Uh don't you have a wife and daughter to get to" I snapped at him.

"Serena!" mom warned

I turned to her "You're better than this mom"

"This isn't what it looks like"

"Then what is it?" I asked
She opened her mouth to say something then shut it back.

"I thought as much" I said and turned to go upstairs.

"When are you going to tell her?" I heard him say as I almost reached my room

I didn't even want to hear anymore. I was so disappointed with mom.
I got into my room and shut the door quickly.
After taking a cool shower, I wore some shorts and tank top and drifted off to sleep.
